In America, we have such a diverse society. We are made up of people from every country, and thousands of different origins. Every man and women experience this society in a different way, and some experiences are better than others. Every race also experiences it differently. Through this class, we examined these differences, and the downsides, that come with living in this society. There were so many ways this class affected my life on an academic, professional and personal level. It has caused me to think differently in some ways and in others, it enforced the ways that I was thinking prior to this class, and has changed the way I see aspects of the world. I took this class originally because I am an Open Option student and I was considering a career in the social justice area. I had no clue how much this class would impact me, or how much it would cause me to solidify my future. I have said it before, but this class has taught me so much. This class has also been applying to my other classes. In my sociology class, we are talking about some of the same topics. A huge one we have talked about is societies construct of gender. I am also using what I have learned in other projects. I am writing a paper about college students and their views on feminism. I am also doing a photo essay about gender norms in society. It covered not only the main problems in society, but also aspects that we do not think about when thinking about social inequalities. Even though this class was full of information, there are a few topics that I would have liked us to explore and spend some more time on. I would like to learn more about the study of college men and gay pornography, the way we use words and the way they affect us, and the different ways privilege plays out in long term society. I believe these are very important topics and they are something I would like to be more informed
