The universe is an immense, vast sea of mysteries and information. Among this sea of mysteries is dark matter and dark energy. It has been said that more is unknown than known when it comes to dark energy and dark matter. These forces have puzzled and bewildered scientists for years. Dark matter and dark energy are complex ideas that lie within the universe and have intricate theories and formulas regarding them.

The cosmos, or universe, is filled with an abundant amount of matter and energy. Visible matter, such as the Earth and the sun, makes up less than two percent of the universe. Visible matter includes stars, planets, moons, comets, asteroids, etc.. Dark energy and dark matter makes up roughly about 95% of the universe. Dark energy is a theoretical force that counteracts against gravity thus making the universe expand at a quickening pace. “The only explanation for dark energy is that it is a property of space” (NASA, 2014). Dark matter on the other hand is matter that is not luminous and is said to exist in space and could be in several forms. These mysterious forces rule the universe and have a history with stumping scientists.

In the universe’s early days after the big bang when it was still young, dark matter was the ruler. After a while, dark energy came and took over the throne. After millions of years, the universe is still being pulled apart like clay. This outward expansion has scientists baffled and in question as to what the universe would look like in the next few millions of years. This influence could possibly die out and maybe dark matter would step in to put the universe back together. If not this theory, then what might happen?

...universe back together. Along with these studies and ideas, scientists have a few of their own theories on these phenomenons at an atomic level. These theories and ideas are very complex along with the mysterious forces themselves and so little is known about them.

Dark matter and dark energy are complex ideas that lie within the universe and have intricate theories and formulas regarding them. Although there are many different explanations for them, they are merely only theories and could possibly be wrong. These theories were conjured up by scientists like Albert Einstein, one of the smartest men on the planet. The universe is so immense, and so vast that it is impossible to fathom how large it is. Within the unimaginable universe, there are forces that power it, yet we know so little about it. More is unknown, than known about dark energy, and dark matter.

Dark Matter and Dark Energy Essay

- Dark matter and dark energy are two entities that have very little known about them, except that they make up about 95 percent of the universe. Even though this is a large part of the universe, it wasn’t even thought about until the 1960’s or the 1970’s. This is because of the fact that it is very hard to detect and almost impossible to see. Although it is impossible to see, we can see the effects of them both in our galaxy. One way that we can “see” the dark matter is the movement of the Milky Way Galaxy....   [tags: theories, universe, gravity, supernovae]

Dark Matter and Dark Energy Essay

- ... The galaxies we observe today would fly apart because they wouldn't have enough matter to create a strong enough gravity to hold themselves together. Dark matter is also responsible for amplifying small fluctuations in the Cosmic Microwave Background back in the early universe to create the large scale structure we observe in the universe today. Astronomers are still in the hunt of the Dark energy and dark matter but they haven’t found none. They are undetectable which makes it very hard for them to see or convince others to believe in their existence....   [tags: armillary, mysteries, exist, universe, force]

The Nuclear Process Of Fusion Essays

- As scientific research has demonstrated for the past 100 years, everything in existence spontaneously came to be from a incredibly hot, dense ball of matter known as a singularity (Veneziano, 2014). In an infinitesimal fraction of a second, the universe grew from less than the size of a marble to more than 100-thousand miles in diameter, expanding faster than the speed of light. (Veneziano, 2014). In the millions of years that followed, various gases and matter cooled from millions of degrees in temperature, to more manageable thousands of degrees, allowing matter to collect and the universe to take shape (Untitle, 2014)....   [tags: Universe, Big Bang, Dark matter, Dark energy]

What´s Dark Matter? Essay

- ... (Dark Energy, Dark Matter - NASA Science) The way we know that dark matter exists is because there is more gravity than visible matter. If the level of matter and gravity did not match up the universe would have been ripped apart. This is yet another reason that we know dark matter is at work. If the universe has not been ripped apart there must be some type of force that we cannot see that is holding it all together. The discovery of dark matter was very puzzling at first. Astronomers expected stars at the center of the galaxy to have a higher rotational velocity then stars at the edge of the galaxy....   [tags: particles, high energy]

Essay on Dark Matter in the Galaxy

- The world we see and are familiar with consists of Normal Matter. Everything made out of atoms is considered Normal Matter. Normal Matter makes up of five percent of all matter. So what makes up the rest of the ninety-five percent. Dark Energy makes up roughly seventy percent of our universe while Dark Matter makes up the last twenty-five percent. What is Dark Matter. Dark Matter is the only explanation we have for why our universe expands in the way it does, but we have no idea what makes it up....   [tags: Matter, Atoms, Galaxy]

Baryonic Matter and Antimatter Essay

- In the universe there are to three types of matter, two identified and one hypothetical. The known matter is called Baryonic matter and antimatter, the third is called dark matter. Baryonic matter is the matter that makes life possible, and is the matter living things frequently interact with on planet earth. Antimatter is precisely that, anti-matter, and is generally referred to as mirror matter. The two types of matter that will be discussed are anti matter and dark matter. Antimatter was initially proposed by British Physicist, Paul Dirac....   [tags: different types of matter, identified]

Essay about Notes On Energy And Energy

- What Is Energy. During a storm lightning flashes in the sky and a thunderclap shakes your house with a deafening boom (Figure 1). Strong, howling winds blow tree branches widely back and forth and a few trees blow over knocking down power lines in your neighborhood. You fumble around in the dark looking for matches and candles. When you strike a match and light a candle, the flickering rays of light give you a little comfort during the scary storm. All of the changes that occurred during the storm had one thing in common--energy....   [tags: Energy, Potential energy, Force, Kinetic energy]

Examining the Existence of Dark Matter in the Universe Essay

- “Why is the night sky dark?” For thousands of years this question has been asked. Astronomers are continually growing closer to the answer but still no one has yet found an answer that is efficient enough. While scientists steadily collect data, they are hoping to find some clue as to realize that the answer may be because of something that is too mind blowing for us to comprehend. There is perhaps no current problem of greater importance to astrophysics and cosmology than that of "dark matter"....   [tags: Astronomy, Science, informative]

Essay on Solar Energy

- Have you ever glanced up at the sun and wondered what it is capable of doing. The sun is a very powerful resource, and is capable of doing a variety of things. One of the sun’s many capabilities is producing energy. This energy is called solar energy, which is the energy I have chosen to research. As you will read later on, solar energy can be very useful. Some of the first people to discover solar energy were the Greek and Romans. They built houses in a way that made use of the sun’s ability to light and heat spaces....   [tags: Energy]

Dark Energy Essay

- Dark energy what is it. Dark energy is a unknown energy said to take up 70 percent of the universe. The energy is a repulsive gravitational effect that is causing the universe to accelerate out-ward. No one knows exactly what dark energy is or where it comes from. Dark Energy is a new idea. Little is known about dark energy, yet it takes up a huge amount if the universe. Scientist were able to show the universe was expanding at an accelerated rate by measuring the red-shift of an object by comparing the spectral lines of the elements and the spectral lines of the same elements measured in a lab....   [tags: essays research papers]
