Introduction
After graduating from a high school your next step towards your particular career is to go to a college. College is supposed to be the most memorable time of your life, it is a place where you no longer are defined as a person by the people you are friends with or the way you dress. On your first day, you will be attending an orientation that will help you bond well with your fellow students. The senior students will welcome you to their campus and make you feel comfortable and welcomed. You no longer use abbreviations such as “Mr.” or “Mrs.” To any of your teachers, instead you will call them “professor”. In college you no longer have to consult your parents for making the decisions for yourself; you are expected to make your own decisions and decide how you will balance your academic and social life. Although, you will always have to think wisely before making any decisions as they will greatly affect your future in the particular college you are in. This is college, where you are no longer considered a teenager but an adult.
Reasons to attend college
The reason why I attend college is to become something big and have a better life for my future, and be able to gain experience of a lifetime. Everyone wants a future that is steady and stable so do I, with a job that is not only high paying but one that I am in interested in as well. College enables me to pick a career that I want to chose moreover, help me in understanding the requirement and needs of my career. The challenges and ways to overcome them
There are many challenges a student faces when he/she goes to a college, I will also face such challenges but I am sure that I will be able to overcome them. I feel that I will meet new faces and a whole new environment that I may not be used to, but with determination and courage, I can surely take a step forward and welcome all the new changes. I think I will settle in such environment very quickly and hope to help others as well that may be in the same situation. This would mean that I would have to overcome any fear or nervousness that a person gets in entering a college and definitely I would be able to become more responsible and self- dependant for any obstacle that I have to face in college.
The three main reasons are economic, political and obtaining new ideas. Attending colleges today will produce future leaders for tomorrow. College should not be just for the rich and the privilege, but for the students with the desire and will. It is a place where hope, dreams and goals can be fulfilled. It provides hope to the students from low income families. College is a place where diversity is not only welcome but embraced. More opportunities will be opened, without a higher education a student can be stuck just getting by in life. College matters because its help the student become the best person he/she can
College helps you find your strong points that will help you find your interests in life. There are plenty of job opportunities these days. By choosing a career you’re interested in will help you extremely. Even if people are worried college will be difficult, it isn’t that harmful at first. There are plenty of jobs without college as well. An example on some jobs are a plumber and private detectives. By going to college though you have less a chance of losing your future job. There are plenty of jobs that you can get to the college experience as well. Some examples from 100 best jobs would be a Dentist and Physician assistant. Furthermore, people start to enjoy college once they realize that they need more in life than a boring job that they hate. During high school, whether it is by a teacher, parent or classmate a student will be advised to go to college. “College is where you find yourself,” they will say. College is made to seem as the place where students will attain a brilliant education, thus making them feel as though once they are done with the schooling, a dependable job of high pay will appear for them. In our society, college is not a scarce option, but rather, an expectation. For many graduating high schoolers, college is the next step. Attaining a college degree is not necessary for creating a life for us as our civilization makes it out to be.
When I graduated from high school, I spent countless days worrying about what college will be like. I worried about everything, like saying goodbye to my family and friends, making new friends, living with a roommate, getting involved, dealing with a huge work load, and so much more. My transition into college is quite a struggle, but it is not nearly as bad as I expected it would be. After watching “I’m a College Freshman,” I realized that the difficulties I am facing are all normal.

Starting college is an intense and confusing event that plagues all recent high school graduates. It is like trying to run when all you can do is crawl, and for many freshmen, myself included, one can get easily overwhelmed by the daunting task of picking a major when less than two months ago some of our parents still packed our lunches for us every morning. The concept of entering college tends to be frequently skewed and expecting an eighteen year old to decide what they want to do for the rest of their lives, without having them actually experiment in different areas, has the potential to create a generation of adults who are aggravated and depressed in their careers.
Students who make the transition from high school into college have difficulty adjusting because many are not used to being on their own nor their new environment. Entering college, you come to understand that it is not the same as high school. There are crucial differences like the level of academic responsibilities, time management and scheduling, as well as the method of learning. College and high school are different in many ways but they both ultimately share the same goal in teaching students to learn.
People have very different reasons on why going to college and getting an education is important for them. Some people go to college because that is what is expected of them, and others go because they have nothing else better to do. However, I am interested in going to college and obtaining a good education because it will benefit my family, my country, and me.
When I first enrolled here at State University, I never thought I would ever be in the position to graduate. Finishing college was a huge goal growing up but it was also my biggest fear. But after three and a half years of dedication I plan to get my degree in the fall. Getting this far in college was not easy, it took encouragement from family, dedication, and assistance from others to reach this position.
Schooling is a very important aspect in our lives and one must go through many steps to gain a higher education. Two of these steps are high school and college. Although high school and college students aim for the same goal, which is acquiring an education and graduating, the demands, expectations, and social atmosphere extremely contrast.
High school is the time of student’s lives. The time to party, have fun and have new friends, and it is the time to work hard to pass the SAT or ACT and make excellent grades to continue the education in college. Not every student in high school knows what to expect from college and unluckily, I was one of them. My experience in college so far has made me think about the differences between high school and college, and it made me comprehend that students need to be prepared for it. Professors, school resources, and the freedom that college offers you make it a completely different experience from high school.
When students are still in high school, college looms in the distance like an ominous cloud. Frankly, all of the students are scared about going to college. When students go to college they feel like going to the great unknown – to go to a place where they don’t know anyone. But after all college is not that bad.
