Theme: The assault, violence, and danger, within schools and among our students, 1984-2015
Schools are supposed to be a safe environment where students can receive a proper education. Our modern American school system is failing in keeping our students safe. The way our society has changed can be seen in our schools and students. Issues that have been found in our students and schools have been brought to light in the past few years. It has forced the public to have a conversation about what is happening to our kids and in our schools.

Many kids are being bullied in schools all around our nation. This behavior has been repeated for too long. Kids bully others, they are being bullied, or they witness the bullying. The internet came along and the bullies had a new platform where they could spread rumors, post mean messages or embarrassing pictures. Now kids really could not escape their intimidators. It used to be said that getting picked on was a way to develop character. School shootings are usually done by isolated or psychotic kids who have been wronged by someone at their school. I feel that mass school shootings have been too common for the past few years. It strange to see that we are headed towards a future where school shooting may become just another crime. The only ways we bring awareness to the issue is by reporting on yet another school shooting. When in reality what needs to be done is placing more regulation on guns. Or better yet, if parents have guns at home they can put them in a locked safe, tell their kids never to touch it and speak to their kids about gun
