A petroleum engineer has many jobs for instance, they are required to fully understand how and what an oil well does, and designing systems to help the flow of the oil. The way an oil well is developed is first they choose a drilling point, then they set up the well and drill down for 1 to 2 miles after that they drill sideways for a mile or 2 as well. The very last process is when they send a mixture of sand, water, and chemicals to crack the well which then releases the oil and natural gas.
Petroleum engineering is steady looking for new ways to discover how to make the most out of oil and natural gasses, but they also keep it to the point where they don’t harm the environment. Being a petroleum engineer requires several responsibilities. …show more content…

In those groups you may have petroleum geologists. Petroleum geologists are the ones that take care of identifying where the oil and gas might be. You also have reservoir engineers. Reservoir engineers specialize in determining how much oil is down below and how much of it can be retrieved. Production engineers also make up the group their job is to extend the profit and lower the costs of the oil extraction. In this field it is easy to move up. The salary is pretty high in this particular working field which means it is pretty suitable to anyone’s ideal lifestyle. The only problem one may face is that this job requires a lot of traveling. Therefore it might not be satisfactory to people who don’t like to travel the world. Although at first they might be sending you to places all around the world with the more experience they might set you at a permanent location.
