Abortion is legal in the United States but someday I hope it is done away with. In America alone there were about 1.06 million babies aborted in 2011. From 1973 to 2011 almost 53 million abortions were performed in the United States that does not even account for the illegal abortions. 2012 had a tad drop on the abortion chart but not rear enough coming in at 1.04 million babies aborted. California was the leader of abortions in 2011 the state had 181,730 abortions which means that about 17 percent of the legal abortions happened in the state of California. The united states aren’t the only ones aborting way too many babies. Australia, New Zealand, and Sweden are about the same in the abortion column. Some people or pregnant might think it is ok to get an abortion because it is a fundamental right which is guaranteed by the constitution. Another point is that it gives the woman a choice on what she does with her body in a sense that if she doesn’t want the baby then she can just get rid of it before the child is born. On the pro and con website it says that it is for the woman’s independence and ability to determine their own future. “Personhood begins after the fetus becomes Viable after birth, not at conception.” This just means that the mother does not become a parent until the child is born from her. There was one that said the fetus cannot feel any pain during the abortions most of the time. That just means that when the abortion is preformed the baby should not feel any pain but because they put most of the time in there it makes me wonder. Does that mean that on some occasions that the fetus can feel pain? Another “pro” is that if they keep abortions legal it will reduce the rates of death and severe injuries due to people getting illegal abortions. The modern abortions are safe and don’t cause cancer. If you let the woman choose it sometimes keeps them from financial disadvantage. Another point is that a woman doesn’t want to bring a baby into the world unwanted.
