There are many reasons to keep abortion legal. There is more to this than most think such as, “back alley” abortions and how dangerous those could be, even possibly causing death of the mother. With that said, in cases of rape or incest it most definitely should remain legal. At least in America, women have rights, which that include a say in what happens with their bodies. Everyone is responsible for their own physical well-being, as women are to decide the fate of his or her own bodies; even if it is to the extent of getting an abortion. Although these may all play an important role in the topic of keeping abortion legal, it’s important to have cold, hard, facts behind these bold statements. “Back-alley abortions cause 68,000 of maternal deaths each year in the 33 countries where abortion is not legal or available, according to the World Health Organization” (abortion procon 1). Back-alley abortions are typically done not by a professional, but by anyone whom the idea comes to and dares to take action. The process stems with a coat hanger instead of legit medical supplies. Unfortunately, many women die during the process. It’s a risky, yet it makes one wonder if it were available, why not go to a real doctor who knows what they’re doing. There would be more of a chance of dying or being seriously injured if done the prior alternative method. Being specialist that knows what to do would be the safest way to go; this just leads furthermore into why it should remain legal. The many reasons abortion should remain legal; including the following prove valid points toward the argument. Prohibiting legal abortions does not mean it will stop forever; women will seek it out another way, even if illegal. Pregnancy changes the woman... ... middle of paper ... ...
