Abortion should be available and a human right! Abortion is a woman's right that should not be limited by governmental or religious authority. Protecting this right is not only a health concern, but also a human rights need. Therefore, it should be considered illegal. I say it should be legal for these three reasons. Abortion should be available because without it, it is a safety hazard. Also, no abortion means more overpopulation and infanticide. Finally, involuntary birth can ruin a woman’s life an is a violation of her human rights.

Abortion is a safety hazard if if it is not legally available. When women feel it is absolutely necessary, they will choose to have abortions, in secret, without medical care, in dangerous circumstances. “In the two decades before abortion was legal in the U.S., it's been estimated that nearly a million women per year sought out illegal abortions. Thousands died.” Without abortion available, there are far less fatalities. With a legal option, there are fewer deaths. “Studies of abortion services worldwide found that abortion-related deaths are rare in countries where the procedure is legal, accessible, and performed […] by skilled providers.” Therefore, if abortion is available is is almost perfectly safe. Finally, abortion is over all, safer than childbirth. “In the US, the risk of maternal death from abortion is 0.6 per 100,000 procedures, making abortion about 14 times safer than childbirth (8.8 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births).” There fore abortion is overall smarter and safer than birth. These quotes all prove the mortality rate with abortion is significantly lower than without abortion and abortion is safer. This quote shows that abortion is safer for the women's health.
