“When someone places more value in saving money, than the value they place in saving life, they have “misplaced” their Valves”(Donald L. Hicks). Abortion is the ending of a pregnancy. An Abortion is known as a miscarriage. Around 44 million abortions happen each year in the world. Abortion has been known since at least the ancient times. Abortion has existed in almost every society and was legal under Roman law back in the day, which also was accepted as a crime of killing a child within a year of birth. Today, almost two-thirds of the women in the world may get a legal abortion. Since the legalization of abortion in the 1973, over 57 million unborn children have been killed, more than the entire population. That is like 155 babies per hour.
Mental health is a person’s condition with regard to their psychological and emotional well-being. It affects how people think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how people handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. According to Mother Teresa on Goodreads she said, “If a mother can kill her own child - what is left for me to kill you and you to kill me - there is nothing between.” Risks that have been associated with abortion would be Pelvic Infection, incomplete abortion, Blood clots in the uterus, Heavy bleeding, Cut or torn cervix, Perforation of the uterus wall. Early abortions that are not complicated by infection do not cause infertility or make it harder to carry a later pregnancy to term. Complications due with an abortion or having many abortions may make it difficult to have children. According to professor David Fergusson, who has described himself in interviews as a pro-life atheist, also led the research team in a 2008 study that concluded that women who continued an unwanted or mistimed pregnancy increase in mental health problems. Women who go through abortion may get suicidal ideas. Suicide attempts appear to be non stop among post-abortion teenagers. Many other studies have also seen higher rates of suicide and suicide attempts associated with abortion. Women may experience abortion as a really bad event for several reasons. Many are forced into an getting abortions by husbands, boyfriends, parents, or others. According to Georgette Forney Abortion is bad for women because it creates more problems than it solves. After an abortion women find themselves dealing with huge use of drugs and alcohol to help with their pain, having nightmares, eating disorders, suicidal feelings, and many even attempt suicide to help forget everything. Difficulty in keeping or having relationships. Loneliness, isolation, anger, fears of the
Imagine going to jail right after getting an abortion. Imagine the government being able to tell women what they can and cannot do with their own body. Did you know it is illegal to get an abortion after 24 weeks of pregnancy in 41 states? 1.21 million abortions happen each year. Of course, some may say that abortion is a sin, crime, or even murder, but does that mean the government should set restrictions on what women can do with their own body? Women are in control of their own bodies so the U.S. government should not put restrictions on abortion or make abortion illegal.
What is abortion? Abortion is when a fetus is removed out of a womens womb ending her pregnancy. A woman has the right to choose to get an abortion up to her first trimester which are her first 3 months of pregnancy, after she past her first trimester she is obligated to have the baby, unless her life is at risk and they have to remove the fetus, and this is only in some states. According to "Sarah Marshall, Dilation and Evacuation (D&E) for Abortion, Webmd.Com" a woman can also have an abortion in her second trimester which requires and Dilation and Evacuation Abortion if the baby is diagnosed with any abnormal or complicated medical issues, also if the mother was raped and was emotionally traumatized, or if an abortion is delayed. Due to
When it comes to abortion there is always much hostility when discussing the topic. Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy. This procedure often done when 28 weeks pregnant. Many people consider abortion to be cruel and an act of murder. Although some will advocate for abortions, those who have religious beliefs will say that no one but God has the right to take someone’s life. Those who support abortion do not consider an unborn child a human that should be protected. The issue of abortion is very difficult when determining if it’s right or wrong. Therefore, I am going to give my philosophical argument from the “pro-life” perspective.
What exactly is abortion? According to InfoBase Learning, it is the termination of pregnancy and expulsion and death of the fetus generally before it is viable (capable of independent life). There are two types of abortions- spontaneous and induced. A spontaneous abortion is also known as a miscarriage,
The bond between a mother and child is made by something more than just DNA. The love that a parent gives their child makes their connection closer than other. However, abortion allows the deliberate decision of murdering your own child. How can we, not as americans but as humans, approve of a society where the killing of the innocent is acceptable? Abortion is, as Mother Teresa claimed, “ a war against the child... a direct killing of the innocent child, ‘murder’ by the mother herself”. If we can frown upon the existence of capital punishment, should we not be outraged by abortion. Compared to inmates and anyone else, these babies are pure and sinless; however, unlike the worst of our society, which plead the right to live,
Over years and years of constant, back-and-forth debate, there are many people who strongly support as well as many who strongly oppose abortion. Those who state that abortion should be legalized, a lot of the time, claim that it is the mother’s body so it then is her ultimate choice whether or not she should go through with aborting her unborn baby. In contrast, those who oppose the procedures and very idea of abortion claim it is inhumane, plain murder and that the mother can go through many consequences in undergoing the abortion procedures as well as other arguments. In an article I found off of the website Mic.com titled “Yes, I’m Pro-Abortion”, writer Lauren Rankin explains her position on the abortion controversy.
The abortion issue is argued from two different views, however, from a moral perspective, it is wrong to terminate a human life. For generations, society has tried to uncover an answer to whether the human life begins at conception or when an infant takes its first breath. The human life is a fascinating topic that fills a person with questions and hypothesizes. Science has mostly proven and answered the vast majority of questions about the human body. Although, there is one question no one can seem to answer. When does the human life begin? If an answer were to arise, would it really matter in the abortion debate? Even if it were proven, abortion would still be wrong and society would need to end the terminating of fetuses.
The topic of abortion is a very sensitive subject in the world today. This begs the question “Is abortion morally acceptable?” I, myself, believe that “abortion is seriously immoral and that it is in the same moral category as killing an innocent adult human being.”(Minch, p.604) In this essay I will define abortion and give a brief summary of the case Roe v. Wade, tell why I believe abortion is immoral, provide a counter argument for a person who is pro-choice, and conclude by supporting my pro-life argument and providing an alternative to the pro-choice argument.
Many do not understand the abortion in today 's society. Dozens of human lives are being thrown away. Abortion is wrong because fetuses feel pain, life begins at conception, Abortion is murder, Abortions reduce the number of and adoptable babies, and Selective abortion based on genetic abnormalities is discrimination.
Abortion is a controversial topic all around the world. Many people believe that abortion is a woman’s right because it is her body and she should be able to make her own choice whether she wants to keep the baby. Whereas, many other people believe that it is inhumane to end the life of an unborn child and they also see it as violating human rights. I personally do not believe that abortion should be legal. To me, it is not morally and religiously right.
child. Women abort babies daily because of unplanned/unwanted pregnancies, rape, and being forced by their parents when under age. Abortion became legal in 1973 after the Roe vs. Wade trial declared so. According to Deborah S. Romaine, “The U.S. Constitution protects both expressed, or enumerated, and unexpressed, or unenumerated, rights.” (1) And the jury for that trial believed that abortion was the right to any mother who needed, or wanted to use it. Still in today’s time, people argue and debate whether abortion should be legal or not. Abortion is a controversial issue which many people believe is evil because it is taking an innocent human life. Killing a child is unethical, and completely unfair to the fetus that is the victim.
Abortion has been one of the most talked about topics in society just about anywhere from television, magazines, whether or not it should be the right or wrong thing to do. Abortion is a very sensitive issue to discuss, because of its nature. Many people have said that abortion is a very bad thing to do and it should not even be choice whether or not to abort a living fetus. People think that abortion is committing murder as it is killing the human fetus. However, others feel that a woman should have a voice and have the right to choose to keep the child or not and that it is not murder until the baby is born. Majority of individuals who believe that abortion is bad say that the fetus is human who is partly being formed and to have an abortion is considered to be murder. For the people who think an abortion is ok, say that it’s not considered murder unless the child is born. I believe that abortion should be seen in which the stage the fetus is in. if the fetus is in an early stage of pregnancy it is not considered murder, but if the fetus has already began to develop into a larger fetus then it is indeed considered to be murder. There are times when abortion can be accepted, if the mother is having complications due to pregnancy. For example if the mother is enduring complications in her pregnancy that can harm her, because of the child in that case it is ok to perform an abortion to help save the mother’s life. It is also very important to understand this type of situation. The mother has the right to have an abortion and it is her decision because a mother knows best about her health conditions.
Abortion. “An abortion is the premature exit of the products of conception (the fetus, fetal membranes, and placenta) from the uterus” (medicinenet.com). We hear that abortion should be a women’s choice, or that it should be illegal. My thought on the entire situation is that it shouldn’t be illegal but it also shouldn’t be legal. The term “Abortion” means to literally kill the fetus or embryo that is inside of you at that very moment. According to the “Planned Parenthood” website, there are two ways to get rid of said fetus. The first way is the “Pill”, this pill comes in two separate parts the first part is a pill that detaches the embryo from the wall of the uterus and the second one is the one that actually kills the embryo or fetus. Basically
Most people do not know or even realize the psychological risks that follows after aborting. It is said in Physical Dangers Associated With Abortion, researchers found that 44% of patients complained of nervous disorders, 36% had experienced sleep disturbances, 31% had regrets about their decision, and 11% had been prescribed psychotropic medicine by their family doctor only 8 weeks after their pregnancy termination. It is also said that 60% of women experienced suicidal ideation, post-surgery, of the percentage given, almost 30% actually attempted to kill themselves and then kept trying (Physical Dangers Associated With Abortion). Just knowing a few of the psychiatric effects that could potentially happen should make anyone cringe. Along with nervous disorders, sleep issues, thoughts of regret, and suicide, aborting is also linked with alcohol and drug abuse, PTSD, and relationship problems. “Catherine Barnard, who studied 80 women who had all undergone abortions at a Baltimore clinic three to five years earlier. Using standardized measures for PTSD, Barnard found that approximately one in five women (19 percent) met all the criteria for diagnosable post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Approximately half had many, but not all, of the symptoms of PTSD, and 20 to 40 percent showed moderate to high levels of stress and avoidance behavior
Abortion by definition means the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to end a pregnancy (Dictionary reference). This is a controversial issue having no grounds of agreement among two aspects. The fight between pro-life and pro-choice supporters has been long and brutal. Abortion is a big topic in this generation today because of having uncontrolled hormones, and the miss connection of love and responsibility. Considering American values and ethics, death is morally wrong. With that being said, the killing of an unborn fetus is wrong as well. Abortion has become common in America, which is understandable. On the other hand women should be held responsible for their actions in choosing to have sexual intercourse,
