When it comes to write a reflective assay on a topic which relates to the wider knowledge that I have earned from the Short History of The World classroom, I haven’t had any confusion because the one word that have stricken me in this semester is “Genocide”. In my school days, I used to watch a television program aired in my mother tongue, Malayalam called ‘Sancharam’ is a travelogue by an individual around this wonderful world. I liked this program because I have been very fond of travelling and exploring new thing in this world since my childhood. They are tribes seen in the central Africa; they are the great primitives group of people and also they are the forest dwelling people. The interesting facts about pygmy tribes are, the male adult individual in their group are shorter in appearance almost have fifty – eight inches in height. Several studies have been conducted to find the real reason behind their appearance, but still it is a mystery in this world. The pygmies were the victims of Congolese civil war occurred in the central Africa. They act against them were horrifying to certain extent. They were treated similar to wild animals, and their representative have made an urgent request seriously to the United Nation Association, appealing that the Movement for the Liberation of the Congo (rebel factions) have been pursuing or hunting the pygmies as like wild animals. Due to the deforestation in this modern era and slaughter the pygmy tribes are vanishing day by day. Numerous innocent people including women and children were killed and abused because of the lack of humanity. Still it is practiced in many places in our world. For instance, the recent genocide act occurred in Europe called Srebrenica massacre. The fact is that, this is happening in an era where, voices are raising for protection of human rights. It is really heart touching that even in this modern era, act of genocides have been practicing. Even though, this world history have showed us the worst face of genocide, still people are not realizing the value of human life is a very unfortunate fact. It is important to terminate the act of genocide in the world because this may lead to another world war in the nearer future. Hence, all the nations should take positive moves to bring peace and stop violence to create a world that protects human rights. In my perspective, every creature including humans, animals and plants has their right to live in this world.
