Article Essay: A Day On Bullying And Tragic Suicide

High school is a tough time in life when some people around you can feel so alone and trapped. In my personal experience, I found out how my simple smile turned the life of a bully victim around. The article, “A Day After Class On Bullying, A Suicide,” gives us an inside view on how hard the life of a bully victim can be. They go into detail about the ultimate damage that can occur to someone of any age, and with a few pages, this article informs us about tragic suicide that followed. Bullying can be hard on a teenager and with the insight of these articles, as well as my own personal experience, we can see the pain and suffering that these bullies bring upon the entire family, friends, and community.

She was rejected by her peers, and her low self-esteem was one of the reasons she couldn’t stand up for herself. So I stepped in. I picked up her books that had just been slammed to the floor. Like so many people in high school, this girl was lonely. She didn’t have a good family life and didn’t have many, if any, friends. The article states it perfectly by saying that people like this have an “overwhelming feeling of helplessness and hopelessness”, and having been humiliated in front of this crowd, ultimately put her put to shame (“Bullying At School” 3). She seemed like a whole new girl. “Bullying At School” mentions that a simple hello or smile can change a person’s life, and in this moment, I felt the change in her attitude, personality, and overall presence (2). It seemed that the simplest acts I did seemed to make a world of difference to her. Graduation day, 2015, I sat in my chair watching all of my friends prepare to walk the stage. As the ceremony began, I saw the girl from that day climb the stairs to the stage and begin to speak. She was our Valedictorian. She began, “Dear fellow graduates.
