There is a great mystery going on, whether the play “King Lear” is a satire or not. Satire is when the author uses irony, sarcasm or any humor to expose anything, try to ridicule a person, and a group of people. It has been a controversial topic since there are many facts and evidence that give the edge to either side, but we will do the proper research and go into more depth on whether the play is a satire or just coincidence. There are countless of reasons for the play “King Lear” to be considered a satire. One reason that might make people believe that it is a satire is the fact that King James had three surviving children and on the “King Lear” play King Lear also had three daughters. One of the most influential things that
Shakespeare has also performed the play in the presence of the King which is a tremendous reason why some people might believe that the play does not symbolize any type of satire. Another argument that people bring up is how the three children King Lear don 't concur. People will also affirm that the children that King James have do not match with the children of King Lear because Shakespeare could have not known that Charles I, was going to marry the princess from France because when Shakespeare wrote the play Charles I, was only 5 years of age.
