Recommended: Child abuse case study assignment

It has been suggested that children who are victims of sexual abuse also become abusers themselves. Children of abuse have a higher probability of becoming a future abuser. Child abuse is characterized as any act that jeopardizes or impairs a child’s physical or emotional health and growth. These acts include any harm done to a child who cannot be rationally explained and is often characterized by an injury or series of injuries seeming to be non-accidental in nature. The behaviors of child abuse can happen in both boys and girls leaving them with severe lifetime symptoms. Treatment is often necessary for them to overcome the actions done to them, but it is not always successful in curing the mutilation. However, the existence of one sign of child maltreatment does not mean child abuse is occurring within a home. Even with proper education, therapy, and validation one has the probability to become an abuser himself/herself.
As of 2010, The Federal Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) defines child abuse as: “Any recent act or failure to act on the part of a parent or caretaker which results in death, serious physical or emotional harm, sexual abuse or exploitation; or an act or failure to act which presents an imminent risk of serious harm.” Abuse can also be referred to as any damage that has been done to a child that cannot be realistically explained with proper representation. An example of this behavior would be a single injury or multiple grievances that are non-accidental in an environment. A majority of Federal and State cases regarding child abuse harm is primarily related to close family members, caregivers, and parents (cite). In my readings, child abuse cannot be rationally explained with an accepting motif. Child abuse is more than the physical bruises and broken bones that can be seen on the outside. Sexual and emotional abuse also plays a role in defining mistreatment. Recognizing the symptom sings of abuse is very crucial in getting help from therapy and dealing with the damage caused by abusive factors. A child or youth’s ability to cope after an abusive event can be overcome by working through past experiences. However, if the environmental living conditions are not altered differently, the abuser will continue abusing the child to the point that the one abused will eventually grow up and find the behavior acceptable and become an abuser themselves.
