Why does community college students struggle to get their diplomas? Throughout my research I was questioning what cause college students strive to get their associate degree or transfer to a university; from my personal opinion and observation, this issue can be addressed. According to the article “Uncluttering the pathway to diploma”, there are several reasons that community college students face a very long road to graduation. Are the factors of late registering classes, lack of right academic advising, attendance policies and wide range of course selection, the main reason for the struggle of community college student? According to Katherine Mangan, one of the most significant issues of struggle in community colleges is lack of enrollment in classes in a timely manner. The article “Uncluttering the pathway to diploma” is a great article because it talks about the situation student goes through in college which prevents them to obtain their degree. Most of the students who just started colleges is basically coming from high school where they have been given their courses and schedule which is totally different in college. There are many lazy students who register their classes late, which provide them with few options. Since, students don’t get the right guidance which is one of the reasons why they end up choosing classes which are not their requirements. From my perspective, students who are attending college must be advised properly so they can choose the right course of time which is related towards their major.
