Short Stories
What is a short story?
A short story is a fictional piece of writing that can range from 1,000 to 20,000 words. Unlike a novel, he reader should be able to read a short story within a short amount of time. Because the length of a short story is shorter than a novel, it usually has one main character (minor characters can be added in limited amounts) and focuses on one plot, setting, and central theme.

This book is an excellent source because it has many examples that can help teach how to write a short story for all levels of education. This book provides cross-referenced themes, comparisons between short stories and so much more. I feel that it is important to give your students a variety of not only topics but cultures as well when writing short stories. That would give them the ability to take their culture and someone else’s and cross them together to create their own masterpiece. It’s important to provide students with information to enrich a student’s experience from studying it.
