My journey from childhood to college has been an interesting one. I was born and brought up in a big metropolitan city of Mumbai, India. After my father lost my grandfather at a very early age of 9. He chose to move to Mumbai from Kolkata located at the east part of India. He decided to take care of his siblings and his mother by giving up school and working long hours in a jewellery manufacturing factory. While, my mother was married to my father at a very early age. I have been inspired by both of my parents somehow, and I recognize some of the things that I have gained from them. One of the most important things that I learned from my father was to never give up and to work hard to accomplish my dreams. On the other hand, I learned from my mother that as a woman in a collectivist culture and society, it is very hard to be an independent women and to be able to support yourself. I have known that when your are someone with disability you don’t feel that they are disable, but they will make you feel special as they go through a lot in life. WIthin these years of study abroad in the states, I have been through phases where I strongly felt that I want to do something for the community especially for those who struggle with stigma. Throughout my college life here, I have been able to take on different opportunities from conferences, working in a lab with kids who have ADHD, camp counselling with kids who have epilepsy, and kiwanis camp for my capstone to gain these skills and apply in our society. Through these opportunities, I chose to become a neuropsychologist because I believe that there is a gap in the mental health care field when it comes to assessment and navigating someone for the right
