On to Walmart one of the biggest supply retail chains in the world and their social responsibility takes a radical turn. Under all that ‘save money, live better’ is a world that not many people see or experience. Walmart uses differesnt tactics to hide, manipulate, and operate under the scrutiny of the public. With such things as the environment, giving back to the community, responsible resourcing the wrongs have succeeded in being in the forefront of what consumers, employees, and the world sees. By setting up a smoke screen Walmart portrays themselves as a great company however, evidence shows the opposite. Taking into consideration the environment lets see how Walmart has impacted the world with what they have not done or at least tried to cover up. Just the waste alone is outstanding and it is stated by corporate that more than 80% is being diverted, but to where? (Walmart corporate, n.d.) They also state that they have different ways to get rid of waste for example, cardboard, plastic bags, aluminum, and many others. As a former employee in a retail store I have seen how none of that was happening. Lego strives to ensure safety within their factories by new machinery, better ways to manufacture the product with chemicals, and with the wages and advancement that each employee can achieve. Walmart makes their employees work mandatory shifts, low paying wages where they have to get on state assistance, to the conservation of the environment. Would going to work many hours a week, low pay, and the factor of safety working against you be a great career move? I am sure not.
