B. Walmart is often thought of as a greedy, selfish, big-shot corporation with the desire to make money for themselves. This corporation is often criticized for costing jobs, giving out wages that aren’t exactly up to par with other competing companies, having no health insurance, destroying local businesses, and hurting the environment. It is my job to explain to you why most of those claims are not true.
C. Sam Walton, founder of Walmart, received a $25,000 loan from his father-in-law in 1945 after returning as an Army officer in WW2. He then used that loan to open up his first discount store in Newport, Arkansas and later opened his first Walmart in 1962. Over the next 2 decades Walton managed to turn that one store into a franchise worth $45 Billion. Now that’s what I call the “American Dream”. Walmart is criticized for actions that aren’t true and can be backed up by facts if necessary. People make assumptions about it without knowing the truth behind what they are saying. These assumptions should be changed because Walmart is indeed a very successful cooperation and benefits the economy and communities around it.
D. When a Walmart comes to town there are usually protestors to follow. And usually those protestors protest about “the environment” or “that it will destroy the community” but in reality they aren’t protesting about the environment or local businesses, they are protesting because it’s a Walmart and that’s not fair. 1. Walmart is one of the most successful franchises of all time and continues to take fire from multiple angles, whether it’s about the costing of jobs, the wages, the health insurance, the small business destruction, or the environmental impact, but can always back itself up by negating those claims with facts that proves that it is beneficial to the community.
2. Walmart is here to stay whether you like it or not. It will remain the top retailer as long as it keeps the consumers happy by increasing their accessibility and quality of consumption. Whether you choose to shop there or not, Walmart should still be recognized by everyone as a marvelous American institution.
Wal-Mart has been of a great advantage to the US economy, being the world’s largest private employer thus providing more jobs. This is a good question. Walmart started as a small five and dime in the city of Bentonville, Arkansas by a man named Sam Walton. After a great success Sam and his wife Helen moved to Rogers, Arkansas where he opened his very first Walmart. He had some retailing experience after his time in the war and he chose Bentonville for the hunting season and because his wife wanted to live in a small town. His ideas of not pocketing extra cash from manufacturers, but rather giving deals to customers and trying to make profit off of how much he sold, changed the way retailers make money in America. Within an excerpt from, “The United States of Wal-Mart,” John Dicker explains that Wal-Mart is a troubling corporation. Dicker begins his article by discussing why the store is so popular within the news in an age of global terrorism, coming to the conclusion that Wal-Mart has a huge scope in the United States and that it has more scandals, lawsuits, and stories than any other supercenter. In 1970, Wal-Mart's first distribution center and home office in Bentonville, Ark. open and Wal-Mart went public on the New York Stock Exchange. Living under poverty circumstances, workers most likely live in small apartments, drive beat down cars, and have filed for bankruptcy. However, at the end of the day they can't get low prices they cant even afford. Although I do not agree with this business model I have a job and it helps me pay for my expenses; I have no choice. Many others in my positions are losing out on gains that we can only hope to share on in the future. Critics should prevent Wal-Mart from opening new branches because ordinary families and their own workers will never in share in those gains under poverty conditions.

Few companies create as much controversy as Wal-Mart has done with its approach to maintaining high profits with low costs. Individuals either love or hate Wal-Mart. There are consumers who like the low prices and convenience of shopping at Wal-Mart. Supporters of Wal-Mart also laud the fact that the company creates multiple jobs for not just the individuals who are employed within the stores but also those who create the products that are sold in the stores. Critics of Wal-Mart have issues with the treatment of those individuals who work at Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart has a poor track record when it comes to Fair Labor Practices by giving low wages, bad healthcare coverage, and treats employees. Low wages, no benefits, irregular schedules, and unreliable hours are just some of the horrible working conditions most Walmart workers have to endure.
Walmart is a company that can be seen from many different perspectives. Due to its vast size; it can be easy to identify its faults and environmental issues surrounding the company. However, they are well aware of these problems and criticisms and have made many efforts towards issues around the world. The motivation and desire Walmart have to improve the world we live in today can be seen through their treatment of employees, suppliers as well as their efforts towards the environment and other humanitarian issues. Going to Walmart is almost a daily tradition in my family. Sometimes we just go for entertainment. One day as we were about to check out, the cashier picked up the food divider and was going to put it away when my dad said, “No, I wanna buy that.” We got some weird looks and our cashier goes, “I’m sorry sir that’s not for sale.” Well obviously, that was not an acceptable answer, and keep in mind that my dad is six foot and pretty intimidating and he says, “But I need it.”
A brand new Wal-Mart opens in a small town and instantly it puts all local retailers on edge. Store owners can only hope and pray that customer loyalty will allow them to succeed against the big box store who is known for deep price cuts and large selections. A plan has to be made, because only the strongest will survive this battle. The first thing for the local retailer to consider is that while they may not be able to compete with Wal-Mart prices, they can however offer the best customer experience. Knowing their customer base and the preferences of their customers will be monumental for any business, but particularly for a small business.
