Introduction Have you ever looked at the 104 days of summer vacation we have, and thought to yourself “What is the best way to spend it?” Usually, the first thing that comes to your mind after the heat of the first summer day is visiting a pool. One thing that often goes unchecked, by the average pool goer, is the state of hygiene and the safety of the pools they visit. In knowing that during one day of operation, over 100 people bathe in that pool, intuition suggests that a substantial amount of external contaminants are introduced into the pool’s system such as, bodily fluids, fecal matter, pathogens, and other contaminants. Concerns have been brought up by many students, who have used Southern Polytechnic State University’s (SPSU) pool facilities, in regards to its actual state of hygiene and safety. This recommendation report was composed to highlight the research that was done to investigate pertinent codes and regulations in comparison with the current state of the pool facilities at SPSU. Our research was divided into two focuses conducted by separate teams; the first of which is conducting physical research at the SPSU pool, while the other would conduct research on Federal, State, and local regulations. Physical research encompassed various aspects of SPSU's facilities to gather sufficient data and report on the pool’s current state of operations. The other team’s goal was to research and compile data on the pool area’s current legal regulations and safety standards. Problem Description As swimming became a popular activity, the convenience of a facility that can function year round became necessary. The best option would be to assign the position to a current employee who is also a student because they will have the benefits of already being on payroll and also having a good idea of the current environment.
