In this assignment I will be talking about the four legislative factors that influence health and safety in sport. On each of the four legislative factors I will be describing them in more details also I will be giving examples for each of them. Here are four legislative factors that I will be talking about: • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) 2002 • Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) • COSHH 2002 • Health and Safety First Aid (1981) Legislative factors Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): This was created in 2002 to look after people in the work environment, the people are made to wear the right clothing for work to prevent them from any hazard at a workplace. • Also you need to make sure that they need to plan the training. This is an important legislation because without this legislation, people could become seriously injured. As you know in the sports centre it will be full of substances. An example of this would be chlorine in the swimming pool. If COSHH wasn’t then the people in the swimming pool would die because COSHH need to make sure that they put the correct amount of chlorine in the water, if they overdo it then it could lead to skin disease on people skin. It a good thing this act is created because the amount of chlorine is controlled. Health and Safety First Aid (1981): The Health and Safety First Aid legislations is also an important legislation for my sports club because there will always be a first aid kit around and most possible a qualified first aider around the workplace. An example of this would be that the manager of the sports centre has a higher duty of care because they are ones responsible for health and safety to everybody. Statutory Law: This law is for everybody. This is a written law that must be followed by everyone. If someone breaks these laws then they will face charges. This law ensures that health and safety is done properly. An example of this would be that they don’t follow the law, they will face charges. It affects the sports club because it has a swimming pool, so the chlorine levels in the water are controlled well so that nobody can be harmed that is why the statutory law is there. Civil law: This is where the individuals exercise their rights to seek compensations for damages or injuries. Also this is a law that is not controlled by the judges based on previous things that had happen in the past. This law was created so that accidents on trampoline don’t happen again so that they look after the safety of people on it. This affect my sports club because an example of this would be that the trampolines would not be allowed to use without any spotters on each trampoline otherwise there would be an risk of
