Child abuse is the physical, sexual, emotional mistreatment, or neglect of children. There are many forms of child abuse, some of which legal action is never taken. Physical abuse can result in beating, hitting, pinching, biting, or spanking. Spanking is commonly a form of child abuse. Some people question whether spanking should be considered a form of child abuse. If you spank your child because you don't know what else to do to discipline him or her or spank your child out of rage and/or frustration because you have other personal issues, then it's wrong. Spanking by a reasonable parent is more acceptable. Physical abuse is usually expressed when the child does something inappropriate, but there are times when the child is abused for no apparent reason. Many courts and Child Protective Services feel that any discipline or action that results in the child feeling any physical, mental, or emotional discomfort, is considered child abuse.
