Kids today are in a constant struggle with everything from physical and emotional norms to social and economic stability. When they step out to face the day ahead the last they should have to endure is being defined by the attire in which they wear. The simple task of getting up and getting dressed to pursue their education has now become a war of the roses. The walk or ride to the school house, for some, have now become the epitome of darkness and shame. Instead of an institute for learning the school house has now become a chamber for torture. The quality of most uniforms are very durable and designed to last; parents save on that alone because it cuts down on the frequency of having to buy new apparel. There is also tax deduction for the purchase or uniforms and supplies, so any money spent will be recycled back at the end of the year. When it comes to the ability and the element of choice students still have those rights while wearing uniforms; some schools have a variety of colors as well as styles acceptable to wear. Individuality is something that is unique to the person not the clothing he or she wears, therefore it does not matter if you dress like anyone else you still have your own identity as an individual. The way you wear your hair or accessorize your garments are both a form of expression, so wearing a uniform to school does not strip the student of their right. It has more a positive impact on the students by creating a picture of an equal economical balance and status among peers. The fact that all the students are wearing the same thing will not only increase safety and cut down on bullying, but it will also dismember the feelings of shame and peer pressure, while promoting unity within the school. The argument suggests that it takes away the student’s right to make decisions, be an individual, and freedom of speech or expression, but it is more like a challenging them than taking away. Uniforms push the students to think outside of the box to find other creative ways of standing out as an individual, and explore other forms of self-expression. Many parents believe that uniforms will only stifle the students creativity. They will not be allowed to freely express themselves with the colors that they wear as well as the clothing itself. If a child is feeling particularly happy that day, he or she may want to wear their favorite outfit to express themselves and the way that they feel. If all students wear uniforms, the entire school will all look exactly the same, which takes away all creativity and suppresses individuality.
Do people really have freedom? Freedom of speech? Freedom to wear what they want? When people go to certain jobs they have to wear a uniform or a suit. This is also true in school. Some schools make students wear uniforms. Although some people may say that school uniforms help prevent kids from spending time picking out their clothes in the morning, they are wrong because kids will just have fits and not want to put on their uniform because it is not comfortable. There should not be school uniforms because there is evidence that it lowers academic scores, restricts students ' freedom of expression, causes a higher percent of violence at school, and promotes conformity over individuality.
High school is typically a time when kids begin to distinguish themselves from one another. Students begin to develop their own sense of personal style, desperately trying to both fit in and stand out simultaneously. Being self-conscious and often lacking the confidence needed to assert themselves, teens are forced to use clothing and outward appearance as the means to manifest this individuality. Thus, students should not be forced to wear uniforms to school. Standard uniforms are unproven deterrents to student violence; are a "Band-Aid" to cover up the real problems faced by children and teens; and they violate students' right of self-expression, depriving them of their search for identity.

School uniforms are a boiling conversation point these days. There are so many well-built points of view about what route parents, students, and superintendents wish to go in. It has been disputed that school uniforms have the potential to make a school safer, that uniforms reduce harassment or self-esteem issues, and that uniforms return the focus to the students' learning. I disagree. I, in fact think that school uniforms do not help make our schools a more secure place, I think that they do not revisit the center of attention to student's education - they just shifted where the attention was previous, and that they won’t help cut down on harassment or self- esteem issues in school.

Children will take from others, rob and even murder others all so they can have the latest Jordan’s or Nike hat. When children wear uniforms they all look alike kind of like team mates do.
