Romeo and Juliet was a very tragic story, one that has had countless remixes and redos. Ask yourself the question why though. Why did the play strike such a huge response from us and why were the new versions done the way they were? That’s what I’m here for. Although I would love to go fully in depth into the writings of Shakespeare I only have time for three subjects I thought could use a little analysing. The setting in the first movie, the wedding scene in the 1996 movie, and the Balcony Scene in the Cambio Spoof seemed to call my name as areas for my essay. Let’s begin with the first movie’s setting.

I chose this particular area because this movie give us the closest version to the original play and it also gives us a visual image to relate to. In the original play it says that Verona. Though it doesn’t say specifically it was in Italy you can tell it was because with the olden time buildings and the way they talk.
