The Right to Bear Arms People argue the right of the Second Amendment all the time. Some people think that guns should not be a given right and that we do not deserve to own them. Most liberals think that outlawing guns will lower the crime rate in America. My question to you is when was the last time a gun that was involved in a crime was legally purchased by the person committing the crime? In most cases, a robbery or crime is committed with a stolen gun. Stolen weapons are harder to trace to the criminal. Taking gun rights away from the American people will more than likely increase crime rate as criminals will be aware that people have no way of defending themselves. College students may feel safe on campus when they really are not. Many college shootings have occurred in “Gun Free Zones” where students feel the most safe. These shootings, although malicious, have taught people that feeling safe and being safe are two completely different things. Gun free zone signs are erected around the campus to make college students feel This check will assure that the individual is of sound mind, has no mental illnesses, and is not a convicted felon. This system is quite effective when it comes to keeping convicts or criminals from buying a new gun. The background check is designed to try to keep firearms out of the hands of criminals. However, criminals usually steal or buy stolen guns.
