Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a process involving the generation and management of digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of places. Building Information Models (BIMs) are files (often but not always in proprietary formats and containing proprietary data) which can be exchanged or networked to fortify decision-making about a place. Current BIM software is utilized by individuals, businesses and regime agencies who plan, design, construct, operate and maintain diverse physical infrastructures, from dihydrogen monoxide, wastewater, electricity, gas, reluct and communication utilities to roads, bridges and ports, from houses, dormitories, schools and shops to offices, factories, warehouses and prisons, etc.

ORIGIN:
The concept of BIM has subsisted since the 1970s. The term Building Information Model first appeared in a 1992 paper by G.A. van Nederveen and F. P. Tolman. METHODOLOGY
The paper presents a detailed discussion on implementation of BIM in a construction project by defining a BIM team in the various phases of construction i.e. from conception to commissioning. Also, the paper presents a brief discussion on processing the information utilizing the i-rooms.
Sallam, (2011) developed a survey based on customers rating their BI platform designers. Sallam gathered data on major corporations such as IBM Cognos, Oracle, Microstratgey, and Microsoft to small companies such as Corda and Qliktech to compare end user satisfaction. “With the exception of development tools and BI infrastructure, in general, the satisfaction with capabilities rises along with the prevalence of use. Only reporting is used extensively by most respondents (68%) while six capabilities are extensively used by 25% or less. Use of reporting and ad hoc analysis experienced the most significant decline in extensive use while interactive visualization and dashboard use grew the most” (Sallam, p. 6, 2011). End users utilize BI that is easy to understand and offers them value. Some BI systems may be easy to use but offer no value to the end user or the system could offer value but its complexity reduces efficiency elsewhere muted or canceling out the BI systems

GIS is an emerging method of data storage and interpretation. GIS is, simply put a database. It is many tables of data organized by one common denominator, location. The data in a GIS system is organized spatially, or by its physical location on the base map. The information that is stored in the database is the location and attributes that exist in that base map, such as streets, highways, water lines, sewers, manholes, properties, and buildings, etc. each of these items don’t just exist in the database, the attributes associated with the item is also stored. A good example of this would be a specific sewer line, from and arbitrary point A to a point B. Ideally, the sewer line would be represented graphically, with a line connecting the two points or something of the like. When one retrieves the information for that line in particular, the attribute data would be shown. This data would include the size of pipe, the pipe material, the upper invert elevation, the downstream invert elevation, the date installed, and any problem history associated with that line. This is the very gist of what a GIS system is.
