Personal Narrative Essay: Spending A Few Weeks With My Joys

Spending a few weeks with my aunt was always the highlight of my summer. Rules were nonexistent with her, we could play and do as we pleased as long as we listened to her when it was serious. Once my Aunt Lisa, a teacher, was let out of school, my brother, sister, and I could not wait more than a day or two before calling and begging her to let us come over. Even though it was a four hour drive she jumped at the opportunity. The wait for her was agonizing! Our cousins, Tonya and Lee, rode with her experiencing the same anxiety. Once they arrived our excitement was at its height. We could not wait for the long ride to their home in Texas. We threw our duffle bags in her trunk and jumped in the back seat. Though we never really went to bed when we were told; we would stay up and play by a lamp so that their parents would not be able to see. Even though we never fell asleep until midnight we were woken up at 5 to go swimming before it got too hot. After Frolicking in Lake Halbrook, we would go to McDonalds and take it home. (Always getting a mighty kids meal of chicken nuggets, fries, and a Dr. Pepper.) After eating, we would take turns showering and watching movies, after a small binge of Disney, my favorite was always Cinderella. Before it got too dark, we would go outside and spend the rest of the day playing on the trampoline, tag and a few other childish games. Being outside, was the best thing, there were not any rules, like how loud we were, or no running; we were free to play as we wished. Even if we were not at home we were at the park playing outside until dark, then dragging ourselves home and eating whatever yummy food Lisa had made for us. Her specialty was lasagna, and Oh My God, it was so good! It was so cheesy, I once asked her if a whole cow was used just for our dinner. After dinner we would go right back to playing but we had to stay inside. Our favorite game to play was of course cops and robbers, Tonya and I were definitely the robber and we always got
