In a culture whose economic and social well-being is directly proportionate to the news of the moment, the purveyors of the media outlets and their mediums are uniquely responsible for ’getting it right’. Unfortunately, ‘right’ is subjective to who is giving and who is getting. This subjectivity is reflective of personal bias’, individual intent, beliefs and agendas. While it may not always be intentional as such, bias is always present, not so much in the delivery as much as in the perception or receipt.

Within our culture lie the ideals and concepts that created the insatiable need for knowledge and information. Driven by evolutionary processes that defined our attention spans, intellectual capacities and temperaments we are animals with a sever compulsion to ‘know’ the world around us. Modern media has tapped into this primal urgency to always be alert and aware of our environment by convincing us that what happens outside of our range of personal senses is far more important than the lion behind us. Only through understanding and appreciating the effects of biased messages and media reporting can we hope to find some form of reality that has true meaning for us as individuals. Only through research and presentation of opposing views and opinions are any real sense of comparative ideologies understood. Investing in a concept or ideology gives personal meaning or value to defend or debate.
