Imagine a ten year old innocent girl, her parents whom she dearly loved slaughtered in front of her, her siblings being sold into prostitution, slavery or to guerrilla forces as child soldiers. Rape, theft, murder, genocides and other injustice doing is her daily “playground”. Now stop imaging, the common American seems to be oblivious to current events going on worldwide, because such girls exist in war torn places such as Iraq, Syria and Democratic Republic of Congo. If Conscription, the practice of ordering people by law to serve the armed forces were enforced then we might not have to let ten year old girls endure such hardship. Conscription would decrease the crime rate, because the soldiers would have been taught to be disciplined. Additionally there would be a significant decline in obesity, because exercise would be a daily task in the training camps and therefore form to a routine and finally become a habit. By doing so a healthy soldier would promote others, such as a female companion, to do the same. Spending time with other cadets extensively strengthens loyalty, brotherhood, patriotism and thus creates a sense of purpose. As a result, there would be less treacherous behavior amongst these youthful men. Conscription also establishes a sense of real equality in the States, because currently mostly minorities and poor citizens join the armed forces “voluntarily” and thus leaves a big gap of white rich men. Just like Charles Rangel, U.S. Representative for New York 's 13th congressional district said, “I believe that if we are going to send our children to war, the governing principle must be that of shared sacrifice. Through much of our history, Americans have been asked to shoulder the burden of war equally, a renewed draft will help bring a greater appreciation of the consequences of decisions to go to war.” I …show more content…

Teaching young men how to survive in horrible conditions while America is at peace is a necessity in order to successfully overwhelm and capture a country. If America stays the way it is now and another country such as Russia tries to invade the US, there won’t be enough experienced soldiers and most American citizens wouldn’t even know what to do. That’s why America needs to reinforce conscription in order to be prepared for these worst case scenarios. This also would boost the economy by creating more job opportunities, because people would work and invest in the private sector of the armed forces. Entrepreneurs would heavily focus on the arms market as well as supplementary training camps. As everyone knows a nation can have a strong and large army available, but if your economy is too fragile and can collapse easily then the soldiers could wave the white flag right ahead just like what basically happened to Germany in the Second World War. Finally, when the average American high school graduate steps into the real world and wonders what to do with his life, wondering if going to college is the best choice or wanting to jump into the white/blue collar world. Unfortunately, most don’t have the sufficient funds or the essential experience. That’s why I would recommend them to join the army, because after the completion of
