Leadership is not only something occurring in our nation, but also globally. In global leadership, one should understand you are not dealing with one particular culture, but many that are interwoven to make up the body of the organization. Patterson, Dannhasuer, and Stone open up the word global leadership by only looking at the word “global” to possibly mean “one world” (Patterson Dannhasuer, and Stone, 5). Northouse implies that since globalization has come, leaders need to make sure to be capable in cross-cultural awareness and practice (Northouse, 383). Javidan and Walker believe that global leaders should be able to navigate through increased difficulty in organizational cultures, management practices and recruitment of top talent which should be focused on developing the human resources professional in organizations (Javidan and Walker, 37). Patterson, Dannhasuer, and Stone advise you cannot run from globalization and leaders have to learn to embrace it in order to be able to move forward (Patterson, Dannhasuer, and Stone, 5).
