In the creation of a leadership development program for a firm, it must have genuine vision and clear, achievable goals that align with a business strategy (Donnelly, 2010). To be an effective global leader, there are some goals of development which will ensure that the global leadership concerns for the future are handled as required. The goals include developing new business models to aid in coping with expansion that may arises from globalization, powering growth which results from globalization through increasing productivity, and coming up with new ideas to handle the increased growth in the economy.
The various action steps involves brainstorming to come up with business models, increasing productivity by increasing the number of employees, and increasing product varieties to handle the increased growth. The actions steps related to and build to one another
The realities of globalization, with increasing emphasis on emerging markets, present corporate leaders with enormous challenges in developing the leaders required to run global organizations. (George, 2012) In preparing to do this paper I took the Global Leadership Inventory found in the appendix (A) of this paper to see how well prepared I was to be a global leader. The results are include at the end (Appendix B). I would suggest giving all leaders an assessment similar to this one to see how well prepared the person are to be a leader. If the results are not to your liking I would recommend that the company develop a plan to train them in the areas that they are weak and help strengthen them to become a global leader. The program could range from two to six months of education and hands on training. The lead by example has taken on a whole new meaning and has caused leaders to step up their game in order to help the future leaders to grow and become ready to fill their
The modern world has experienced tremendous changes, which have contributed to changes in people living in the global world. These changes have mainly been brought by globalization, which is a major phenomenon in the 21st Century. Leaders across various professions, businesses, and governments need to cope with globalization since it forces them to cross borders more often and communicate or conduct business with people from other cultures. This process involves developing necessary skills for working effectively in the modern complex world. Actually, the ability of these leaders to work effectively not only requires the development of essential skills but the application of leadership principles in the global work environment. In essence, leaders must develop their ability to apply leadership principles across culturally diverse workforce in today’s global work environment.
Upon graduation, I will work for Janssen Pharmaceutical of Johnson & Johnson as part of its international leadership program. I will work as a manager in the department called Integrated Market Access (IMAT), composed by six functions. Johnson & Johnson has the specific leadership model, the Leadership Imperatives, where all employees are expected to implement in their daily practice to lead the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies for future [1]. The Leadership Imperatives consists of four Imperatives: Lead, Deliver, Connect, and Shape. The model is a common requirement to assess employees’ success. As a manager, I also have to personify this leadership model. Therefore, in this report, I would like to examine how I can improve my leaderships by connecting lessons learned in the class with four elements in the model.
Full range leadership theory. Effective (FRLT) Full Range leadership theory is described as putting together of transformational and transactional models (Bass & Avolio, 1994, 1997, 1999, 2004). Transformational leadership stresses on the relationship between the leaders and subordinate and workplace situations that result to surpassing expectations. By the application of FRLT, SAHC leaders will effectively manage the MDCs facing the leadership. According to Mhoon-Walker (2013), stimulating inducement, intellectual encouragement, and customized deliberation are three features of transformational leadership utilized to motivate subordinate performance. The application of FRLT has demonstrated to be appropriate in leadership improvement, as a
A learning organization needs to embrace change and promote the development of leadership abilities (Senge, 1990). According to Hannagan (2005, quoted in CLMS, M3 U2: 6), Leadership is "...the process of motivating other people to act in a particular manner to achieve specific goals" or simply the ability to influence others (Pedler et al, 1998). Senge (1996: 36), defined leaders as those “who are genuinely committed to deep change in themselves and in their organizations”. As organizations evolve, leaders face more complex challenges and it becomes necessary for managers and employees at different levels in the organization to step into a leadership role when needed in order to move the company forward (Stringham...
It is a step of defining the goals of the projects and the results are aimed at reaching certain levels of productivity of customer satisfaction. The second stage is measure, and it is the stage of collecting data and facts and evaluating current operational performance. The third stage is analyze with the purpose of developing methods and theories that will best suit the solving of the problem; it is also a stage of detecting cause-and-effect ties of the processes. Finally, there is the control stage that is about monitoring the operations to find out whether the process of improvement is smooth and the problems were solved (Meredith & Shafer,
There are a myriad of publications available to assist with leadership issues. Most consistently refer to the specialized skills and traits needed to be an effective leader. Choosing a leader with these specialized skills is only part of the challenge facing organizations today. Providing effective training for new and existing leaders is becoming increasingly important. Such training should include recommendations on how to plan for and address real-world scenarios as well as examples of situations that may occur in order to strengthen comprehension. Leadership training should be viewed as a process, not a one-time event. Training leaders on how to plan and deal with obstacles, as well as how to motivate and inspire employees is critical to organizational success. Leadership should be a focus at all levels of the company whether it would be individual, departmental, or organizational. The key to successful leadership is to create a sense of belonging by getting all parties involved.
A form of guidance in necessary to illustrate the direction that an organization, community, or society desires to move toward, therefore the approach of leadership becomes very important. In order to strive, define and achieve goals leadership inspires a sense of purpose and passion to the effort that the association undertakes (Russell Consulting, Inc., 2011). If a solid foundation of leadership is not applied the objectives, goals, customer service, quality, and, productivity will be lost and result in inadequacy for the corporation. An effective organization relies on leadership to serve and to communicate goals, strategies, organize, and motivate others to arrive at a collaborative result (Understanding Society, 2008). Challenges being faced include cultivating strength in leadership, building team environments to accomplish goals, having clear mission, vision, and values, and reducing employee turnover while improving workforce morale (The Ken Blanchard Companies, 2011).
Globalization has many implications for leadership today and in the future. Global perspectives are being spread to the farthest points in the world and to the most isolated people. People of different cultures come to the United States daily to live, travel, or engage in business. Leaders must respond to this challenge of globalization so they can effectively reach out to as many people as possible. Opening themselves to the world's changes allows leaders to compare and contrast their culture with the arts, language, beliefs, customs, philosophies, and ways of living of other people. By observing and questioning another culture, leaders can understand the origin of an individual's viewpoints and become more sensitive to the cultural needs of that individual. By continually exposing themselves to other cultures, young leaders can thoroughly develop this global perspective and devote themselves to making connections with the entire world.
Globalisation allows individuals, groups, corporations, and countries to reach around the world farther, faster, more deeply, and more cheaply than ever before. Most large local companies regard globalisation as opportunity, thereby exploring overseas markets for maximum market share and optimum business strategies. However, managers would face a series of challenges caused by leadership models, cultural backgrounds, political and economic risks, HR management, etc. To study multinational management skills is very useful for my future career. In this essay, I will set goals for this subject, identify the skills I have honed and need to improve, and explain my strategies for achieving goals.

Leaders will no matter what have an influence on our world. They have missions, dreams and ambition, and with these things they are bound to go far. For leaders, what makes these dreams come true is having strong qualities such as leadership practices, values and strengths. If developed and learned how to use correctly, these are what take leaders to the next level and accomplish great things. In the following paper I will talk about leadership in our ever-changing world, explore my leadership practices, values and strengths as well as elaborate on the goals I have made to challenge myself as a leader.
Leadership is something that is heavily prevalent in the workforce and in the world today. Being a leader, in my opinion, takes someone (or a group of people) who is willing and able to lead a few or many people. Not every leader though is successful or leads in a positive way. There definitely exists both good and bad leadership. Many leaders fail while many achieve extraordinary milestones. But everyone, not just leaders, have their pitfalls and rough patches in life. I know that I myself have some weaknesses as a leader, and that is what I want to take some time to reflect on.
...to make group achieve common goal. In the changing socio-economic structure of the world and challenges of multicultural business, a leader’s job is getting tougher day-by-day and they need to evolve continuously to stand up to the challenge. Also in today’s times, it’s absolutely necessary that leadership is grown from the seeds of moral integrity, spiritual wisdom and chaste conduct in the future leaders. Any organization thus, will have to allow the individuals to grow and contribute in the process to allow effective leadership to emerge. It is also necessary that every organization needs to make conscious efforts to imbibe a sense of responsibility among its incumbents and facilitate the understanding of challenges faced by the communities struggling to sustain themselves. Constant learning and faster learning are the keys to success in the twenty-first century.
Leaders of the future will be faced with many challenges. As the world changes, we must adapt the ways in which we face these challenges, and in turn grow as leaders. A leader is not merely someone which commands a group or organization. A good leader exhibits the ability to take an average team of individuals and achieve greatness. Leadership is not supervision or leading. It is the ability to inspire or influence others towards the end goal. As Barendsen and Gardner stated (2006), “the best leaders are individuals who, in their work, exhibit three distinct meanings of good: (1) an excellent technical and professional quality and competence, (2) an ethical orientation, and (3) a completely engaged sense of fulfillment and meaningfulness” (p. 266). Good leaders must utilize all of these traits in order to meet the challenges of the future. A few emerging challenges that future
