Let’s Ban the Cell Phone As a student, when I come to class, I am very respectful to the teacher and others classmates. I do not turn my cell phone completely off but I change it to the silent mode so my cell phone will not make a sound and bother the others or interrupt the lecture. Cell phone is a very useful invention device in this modern century. I use it as a daily personal item all the time. However, to use cell phone at the right time is a matter. For instance, class room environment is remain silent at the time class meeting, and if your cell phone ring during class meeting, it will interrupt the lecture and bother the other people. Most students who come to class all have one purpose to accomplish the major. They all go to school to learn and to get better. ” Hand in my cell phone? Why? Was the professor worried that student’s phone would ring nonstop, thereby interrupt her lecture?” (Guiterrez 46). However, some of students do not respect the college environment in coincident or purpose. For example, some students focus on their cellphone screen than pay attention on class martial, and so on their cell phone is accidently ring while class meeting. It is bothering the other student and interrupt the class. Therefore the cellphone banning is invented to prevent of the distracting while class meeting. According to Ava Gutierrez’s essay “Let’s ban the cell phone ban” indicate “Professor have a right to except that student will be attentive. But a blanket cell phone ban-imposed without any input from student- is a mistaken way to address these concern.”(46). The rule is not about the commandment of their cell phone, but it simply ask students to volunteer themselves to turn off their cell phone before entering class. One of the examples Ava Gutierrez shows that student could be asked politely to turn off their cellphone when they are in classroom, or they would be asked firmly to put their cellphone a way when at fault (46). According to Ava Gutierrez, said “take greater responsibility for their education” (46). However, the rule has not been fair for the student because it is forcing the student in charge than encouraging them to do their job. In addition, the goal of training student is that encourage them to study and be responsible of their job. In opposes, Ava Guiterrez pointed out that the policy helped students, but it should encourage students more than force them. She argued that this policy told student that their real job was simply to follow rules laid down by other (47).
