Recommended: Introduction on why phones should be in school
Many teachers ask their students to put their phones away when in the classroom. I see people on their phones in class everyday and even when the teacher asks them to put it away they still dont. I think that putting their phone away should be enforced because it is very disrespectful, distracting, and many people use it to cheat on tests or quizzes. When the teacher asks a student to put their phone away and they don't I think that it is very disrespectful, because the teachers are their to help teach you, and when they are telling you to put their phone away it takes time out of what they're teaching to talk to you specifically. After the teacher asks them to put their phone away they chose not to because they don't think it is that big of deal to have a phone out when the teacher is talking or trying to teach something. I think that having your phone out in class is not only disrespectful to the the teachers but also to the students around them. Cell phones should not be allowed in school because they can be used to bully people, cheating, and cause distractions.
Do you think cell phones are a distraction to kids and some adults? Well imagine if kids were allowed to use their cell phones during class. It would affect their education and get them off task with the internet to explore in. Then next thing you know their grades are dropping and then the phone is taking over your life at home and school. Sometimes not all the right answers are on the internet too, like Wikipedia, which people can edit the page and put whatever they would like to say. Plus cheating could be way easier and kids would take advantage of it. They could just text their friend in the same class and ask for what answers they got.
Cell phones are harming education and causing grades to be lower than what they could be. The other day I got out of class early in the business building, as I usually do. I was walking down the hallway, back to my dorm, as I walked across a classroom that I happened to look inside. As the professor was in the front of the classroom giving his lesson for that day, I noticed that about fifteen of twenty students had their phones out not paying one little ounce of attention to the professor. I do not know about you, but I can not read a status on Facebook and retain the information that my professor is giving me, but that is just me.

This becomes a wider issue when students begin to pull out cell phones in the middle of class. Cue the distractions. Speaking from a high school student’s perspective, I can say that as much as I love having my phone with me at all times, it is definitely a distraction during class. There is always a number of times, during a lesson or a presentation, where I find my attention drifting off of the lecture, and towards my cell phone. One reason that cell phones should be banned from classrooms is because students who use them fall into a daze of distracted learning. Classes are taught by teachers, whose goal is to give the student an educational experience, learning things they will need to apply to their later life. However, students on their cellphones are distracted from their learning and never use the lessons taught. Over 2,000 cellphone disturbances were reported in New York City in the past school year (Backstory). This means that over 2,000 people had issues with cellphones interrupting classroom discussi...
