Is morality relative or are there objective moral truths?
In other to evaluate the nature of a culture/society, morals and ethics are needed. What exactly is “morals”? Merriam-Webster defines “morals” as concerning or relating to what is right and wrong in human behavior, basically what one think is right or good. Ethics, on the other hand is the discipline relating to right and wrong, moral duty and obligation, and moral principles and values. They both can have a similar definition but they both have their distinctions. "Ethics" is a universal or philosophical system of moral principles and values, while “morality" is the relative standards or values of any social group or person.
Morals is what people believe and do personally to justify their behavior. You can know how someone lives their life by the morals they practice. If you believe in relativism, then you think different people can have different views about what 's moral and immoral. Moral relativism however is having the way we see right and wrong affected by what someone else think. With relativism, it’s like a public influence on the way you think of things. Within the definition of moral relativism, you found Subjective and conventionalism. Subjectivism is define as seeing right as being right and wrong as being wrong because we think it’s right or wrong. It’s having our own judgment and basing it on what we think is the good or bad decision. Conventionalism on the contrary is define as how the society, in which we live in, make us see right as being right and wrong as being wrong because of how they think of things.
