National Issues Paper: Illegal Immigration

There are more than 10 million illegal immigrants living in the United Sates, and each day that number is increasing by 1,400 illegal aliens. An illegal immigrant is a foreigner who either illegally crossed an international political border, whether it was by land, sea or air, or whether it be a foreigner who legally entered a country but nevertheless overstayed their visa in order to live and/or work there. The two focal attractions that the illegal immigrants perceive in the U.S are superior job opportunities, and better living for their families. Several businesses in our Nation are eager to hire cheap, submissive manual labor from overseas. Such businesses are hardly ever penalized due to the fact that this Nation lacks a practical method to verify the newly hired workers work eligibility. Furthermore, communities of only just arrived legal immigrants assist in creating immigration networks which the immigrants for providing jobs, housing, and inauguration to America for illegal relatives and their associates. Though the majority of illegal immigrants fill the jobs that fellow Americans do not desire, they still cause much harm to the U.S due to their lack of contribution to the economy. They also flood the Nation’s borders and cause various security problems through out the U.S. Illegal immigration is a major threat to the country’s homeland security policies however some states are threatened by it more than others. Therefore, the immigration problem facing Florida and the rest of this Nation exposes pressing issues of border control, security issues, and economic stability.

...er is vastly increasing everyday so clearly this problem needs to be addressed immediately. The immigration problem facing this nation exposes pressing issues of border control, security issues, and economic stability, so that is why as a solution, I feel that the nation should hire border patrol officers to fully monitor the borders 24/7 to put an end to this problem. If our nation were to hire around 10,000 border patrol officers it would cost around $151 million, however, the budget is around $1.6 billion. By having the border patrol officers, all the problems that the nation faces with illegal immigration will be put to an end. The security, and economic issues will all decrease and the border would be under control, putting our great nation at peace once again. Illegal immigration is a crime. Like most categories of crime, it can be controlled but not eliminated.
