In life, we have choices; those choices we make can greatly impact the outcome of our days. For example, every morning we wake up we have the choice to think positively or negatively. What I have found is that these initial thoughts when I wake up can greatly impact the outcome and feel of your day. Going through high school, I would always wake up in the mornings with a glass-is-half-empty feel. Due to this thought process, I was never really happy; I walked around with a depressed feeling. I never really got to enjoy my days. After a while, I got tired of this glass is half empty attitude. I decided to make a change. Instead of waking up and thinking negatively, I started to think positively about my day ahead. With a change of perspective …show more content…
For example, when I used exaggerated terms such as “whyyyyyyyyy” or “ughhhh”, I’m playing on the emotions of my audience on waking up in the morning. I’m playing on this emotion because I know a lot of people are extremely sad when they have to wake up in the morning and I imagine they think negatively about getting out of bed most of the time. This negative thinking is what can lead towards a slippery slope of negative thoughts. I used my pictures in my video to play on different emotions as well. For example, I used a SpongeBob meme with the quote “whyyyy” to show and express the emotion of how you feel when your alarm clock goes off in the morning. This picture in particular displays the pain and sadness of having your alarm clock wake you up in the morning, while at the same time trying to make waking up in the morning a comical tragedy with SpongeBob in the …show more content…
My pictures I used were placed in order to try and give a visual breakdown of the thoughts that run through a person’s head when waking up in the morning, during the first third of my video. The pictures I used in the second half of the video try and depict what happens when you start to think positively and the positive trend that ensues. Finally, the video in the third and final segment of my video depicts what happens when you drop the negative thoughts and all the positive thinking starts it; shows what happens when all the positive things come together and what happens when you start your day
Award-winning author Mandy Hale once stated, “Without negativity, life would be amazing.” However, this statement does not always prove to be true. Today’s modern community generates a judgement that negative experiences will ruin your life, but studies show that negativity can actually result in positive change. For example, negativity can positively change teenagers actions, introduce teenager’s to more supportive environments, and help fix broken relationships.
Authors use rhetorical strategies to express themes in their writing. Different rhetorical strategies help convey different themes with varying degrees of effectiveness. One way to measure the effectiveness is to rhetorical analyze two pieces of writing to each other and see which is best.
Katy Hutchison opened to viewers with two heart felt stories during her Ted Talk. In her opening, she states lots of experiences will happen in life whether it be great or bad. She believes that when it them becomes a time in one’s life where a mess happens then there’s a moral responsibility to clean up the mess no matter the means. In the process, if cleaning the problem one may realize that they’ve been standing next to the person who created the mess. In the moment of realization, you’ll begin to feel the amount of possibility. What I gained from her message was that life has its up and down. While you’re up life is great, and everything goes as for as planned. You look forward to the next day because you know it going to be great. But,
This shows that we have the power to keep on going and be optimistic instead of letting life control us and try to break us down. It is in our control to determine the outcome of our
If someone thinks negatively towards something the outcome will not be good, and vice versa. Thinking you can achieve the American dream is a major key in doing so, and some Americans are already on the right track. In the U.S., a survey showed that 36 percent of Americans say they have achieved the dream, and another 46 percent believe they are on the path of achieving it. It is not so easy, though, to always look on the bright side. Sometimes it seems as if nothing is going right; that is when negativity occurs. People can argue that mindset has little impact on the outcome, or that it does not matter how positive a person is because some things are just not meant to be. An article, however, proves this wrong. The paper argues how negative emotions prevent humans from flourishing; it also states, “if your ratio of positive to negative emotions is greater than 2.9013 to one, you will flourish both physically and psychologically.” If a person believes in themselves, they are more likely to accomplish their
Rhetoric is defined as “the art of effective speaking or writing; language designed to persuade or impress; eloquence, way with words, gift of gab.” We see rhetorical devices being used in our day-to-day life. Sometimes we might not realize that it’s being used and other times it might be obvious. One of the most common example where rhetorics are used is t.v. commercials. Every commercial uses certain rhetorical devices to capture their audience’s attention and leave an impact on them.
He believes the right mindset is the key to having a healthy and happy life. This article includes studies that support my claim that positive thinking will lead to a happier
Positive Psychology is the strengths and virtues a person or a community poses that lead to its optimal performance and allow it to thrive. This is a beneficial study that has the chance to improve the lives of many as well as preventing some negative situations. This review looks into what Positive Psychology is and how it impacts our lives. The sources I selected look into a broad overview of Positive Psychology, and it looks into deeper more specific aspects of Positive Psychology. This review has to lead me to believe that if we see ourselves and the future in a positive way it will have a positive effect on our lives.
The word strategy reminds me of war and a way you can conquer your enemy, but in public speaking it means much more. These keys are informally taught as the brains of the speech and ...
Life bears challenges and trials we need to overcome. In many instances, it is the journey through these moments of crisis, not the crisis itself that develops our character. “The Pursuit of Happyness” uses music, camera positioning, and camera angles to present to the viewers the moods, and tones which help demonstrating Chris Gardner’s perseverance, commitment, and determination.
We all live in the world, which is full of sadness and disappointing. We see people dying, poverty, unemployment, etc. However, there are a lot of positive things in the world: children, who are born every day, people, who get new life opportunities, happy marriages, etc. The greatest gift is to see the positive sides of life, without concentrating our attention on negative. According to Winston Churchill, a pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty. In my opinion, it is really true, because the positive or negative attitude towards life can highly influence our chances to success, feelings and even health. Positive thinking can be the best treatment for those, who don’t know what to do, in a problematic life situation. Optimistic attitude can help the person to live longer, recover faster from the mortal diseases like cancer and coronary heart disease, and avoid alcoholism and psychological problems(like depression).
While retiring to bed at night, one should say "it was a nice day and now I can have a relaxed sleep. Let the tomorrow be brighter, fresher and cheerful" Psychologists insist on having just positive thoughts. When you recurrently habit yourself with such thoughts, your mind and body are used to the positive vibrations they set in. Once your body is a harbor of positive thinking, you can never run out of hope and optimism.
“You make the world a better place by making yourself a better person,” was once said by a man named Scott Sorrell. In today’s modern world and age, everything seems to be progressing and getting larger at a mind blowing rate. This includes people’s attitudes on themselves, on other people, and on the world in general. Many people are insecure and spiteful towards their physique or their overall worth, and bitter and disconnected from other people. Scott Sorrell’s quote is conveying that one can make the world a better place both for themselves and for other people simply by changing their attitude and being positive. I agree with Scott Sorrell’s quote because by choosing to be happy from within, people’s positive attitudes can reach other people and eventually the world, making it a “better place”.
Personal Development is a lifelong process that involves the assessment of current skills and talents and the enhancement of oneself based on that assessment which then leads to the realization of goals and an improved quality of life. To be able to assess yourself, you need to be able to reflect on your past which helps you to understand the attitudes you have developed and the foundation that you will be building your life on. Also, you have to reflect on your present to see if there’s room for improvement and reflect on your future so that you can achieve your aspirations.
