Ghosts and hauntings are not often talked about and are over looked. They have been reported to have been seen in many places like battlegrounds, old homes, murder scenes, and hospitals. Many places that you would not expect to be haunted turn out to be unlike the more publicized locations such as morgues, mental hospitals, and old rickety houses. One place many people may not realize is haunted is the White House, the famous home of the president of the United States of America. The White House has many ghosts, which range from former president Abraham Lincoln and first ladies like Abigail Adams and Dolly Madison to long dead White House staff and British soldiers trying to set the house on fire. One explanation of his haunting of the White House is” perhaps…due to the tragedy of his assassination, which sent shock waves through the war-thorn country”(Guiley). His ghost has been seen all over the presidential mansion doing various things. These things ranged from scaring British prime ministers to warning current presidential families to structural failures in the White House. He can also be seen and mostly heard in the Lincoln room weeping over his dead son at times almost acting out things that happened during his life. The former presidents ghost have also been reported to scare foreign diplomats like in the case where he appeared to British prime minister Winston Churchill after his bath, who surprisingly did not respond well to meeting the famed U.S. president. The story goes “In 1941, Great Britain 's prime minister supposedly refused to sleep in his room after the ghost [of Abraham Lincoln] surprised him after a bath”(Rattini). Lincoln’s ghost is far from those you hear of in late night campfire ghost stories used to scare small children and is more of a helpful and kind being live that at the White House, who may joke around with foreign diplomats from time to …show more content…

Legend has it he was killed on white house grounds trying to set the white house afire”(Guiley). During the war of 1812 the British set the White House on fire and it is apparent that on soldier was left behind and died in the fire. On one occasion he was reported to have stormed int a foreign diplomats bedroom and tried to set their bed on fire among other things during his rampage and many others before. The diplomat and his wife were very displeased to see the British soldier.Despite all his attempts to kill everyone in the house he obviously fails every time just like the first
