Yingjie Kuang Paper#1 Friends can change a person I believe all people are a good person with clean soul when they were born. The things that make them different I think is the place where they grow up or the people who they meet. According to the social class, which I studying now, the teacher said there are three things may affect a person to change while they are growing up, family, friends and social. Most people in class believe the family play the most important role in how to change a person in their whole life. In my opinion, I support the friends they make while they are growing up as important as the family even more than family play the role in the whole life. In my whole life, I can’t forget two people, Jordan and Ryan, who were
Story: “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck ( a story about the hardships of two diverse men and their friendship)
In conclusion I believe that all people are good at heart. I believe that because when the Jews needed help the most, so many people came to their side. Also even when people do horrible things they do it with good intentions or for the right reasons. Those are the reasons why I believe that no matter what all people are good at heart and will do what is right.
People have constantly attempted to understand what evil truly is, and, if possible, how to eliminate this evil from their lives. However, first it must be known what it is that is being eliminated. Different people, cultures, and eras have all had a different view of what evil is, and how it affects their lives, and there is no true answer. Because of this, discussing the idea of whether people are born or can be evil is meaningless. The idea of what evil is, and whether people can be evil, is relative and cannot be applied to human nature in a universal way.
I believe that humans are generally good. I believe inheritance and the environment play a role in the “bad” decisions one chooses to make. I think humans are flawed but if they accept God as their creator and worship him,
Who exactly is a good person and what about them makes them a good person? In David Foster Wallace’s Good People, the question of what a good person is brought up. Lane and Sherri are Christian college kids who attend the same junior college. Sherri got pregnant before marriage and decides to keep the baby, and while Lane decides to stay supportive he has lost feeling of love for his girlfriend. Two different definitions are brought up, the question is which one is the true meaning of a good person? A good person is either a person who does good deeds but doesn’t truly mean them from the inside or a person who is down to earth from the heart but may not always do good deeds.
It is quite evident that a combination of life experiences and heredity determine who one eventually becomes. Some people are blessed by having a good childhood and coming from a loving and nurturing home, which allows them to flourish in society; yet there are others who come from similar backgrounds are unable of functioning in society. Then there are the people who are born into a dysfunctional family or go through a traumatic experience and are simply incapable of adapting to social norms because of what they have experienced. Despite knowing that a combination of the two shape who one becomes, it is unclear whether one of them has more influence than the other.
“It’s not enough to be friendly. You have to be a friend,” R.J.Palacio. Though Summer was the only one to really be a friend to August in the beginning, Jack was friendly and learned that just being friendly was not enough. He needed to be a friend. I started to think about how kids and I would realistically act around August, and I concluded that I would react much like Jack did.
All over the world, it has been proven that people do awful things. We may not know why, or how someone would think of doing something so horrible. Some people just do it out of hatred, and others have something going on in their life that is causing them to act that way. Overall, people mean well and are good at heart. People also all over the world have shown selfless acts of kindness, by helping one another when they, themselves are in need. People may have feuds with one another, but at one point in time they have an appreciation for one another.
They should be respectful, nice, kind, helpful, and not lazy. I think if everyone would wake up in the morning and start off being happy it would make the day better. If everyone wouldn’t be lazy and find a job we could eliminate most of the poverty in the United States. I think that if the government wouldn’t help pay that are to lazy to help themselves we could have a better place to live. Also the perfect person should be happy that they are alive, not being depressed and wanting to kill themselves and everyone else.
“In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility.” (Eleanor Roosevelt). This is just one of the infinite examples of how human nature has been explored by so many different people. Each and every human is born with the capability of making their own choices. The decisions that they will make in the future will determine how evil they are viewed by others. Although one’s nature and nurture do affect their life, it is their own free will that determines whether or not they are evil.
What makes a good person good? According to WikiHow, "We should learn to define our own morals ourselves. One of the simplest ways to do so is to love others, and treat them as you would like to be treated. Try to think of others before yourself. Even doing small things daily will greatly enrich and improve your life, and the lives of others around you." This quote shows us what we need to do in order to be what society thinks as, “good". In order to be a good person, you have to do good and moral things in your society consistently. However people might think that by doing one good thing once in a while will automatically make you a “good person”, but in reality it doesn’t.
“Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light” -Helen Keller (brainy quotes). The importance of this quote is to show that in both books, the protagonists try to cling to these friendships because it is just easier to go through the dark times in their lives with someone by their side. Cat’s Eye, and A Separate Peace are both narratives surrounding the influence of friendship on one’s identity. The two novels highlight how the protagonists are affected by their superiors and how their character development is shaped by those around them. As a result of the influences by their friendships, both Elaine and Gene’s identities worsen. The two stories display how one’s identity
“The silver friend knows your present and the gold friend knows all of your past dirt and glories. Once in a blue moon there is someone who knows it all, someone who knows and accepts you unconditionally, someone who is there for life.” This is a quote I read once in an article by Jill McCorkle. I wrote it down and posted on my wall. McCorkle’s description of a “gold friend” describes a friendship that I have with a group of girls who mean the world to me.
A friend is someone difficult to find. A friend is someone you can always count on when times are tough. The dictionary's definition of a good friend is a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard. A good friend is there when you are struggling. For example, when a boy breaks your heart a good friend walks you through it and offers a shoulder to cry on. According to Bree Neff, a good friend is someone who is trustworthy, doesn't talk behind your back, listens to your problems, gives good advice and tries to lend humor along with his or her support. There are also bad friends, those who pretend to care and then turn around gossiping and starting drama. Good and bad friends are all around you, involved in your everyday life. To find good friends you should look for such traits as being kind, trustworthy, loyal and dependable.
Most beautiful kindred of all of humans are the companionship. Without excitement, confusion, tangles and commitment life becomes a cake-walk if people have a hand of a friend to hold on. Can everyone imagine if there is no friendship in the world? Nobody will care about one another. Friends are the pillars of strength that give support and comfort in life "A hedge between keeps friendship green”. Friendship is the one of the medium that can build unity among community. As Woodrow Wilson, the 28th President of United States, once said, “Friendship is the only cement that will hold the world together”, I strongly agree to his statement because friendship teach to help one another, learn to accept each other and build trust and faith towards each other.
