Fast food is a cheap and quick way to receive something to eat. Fast food is normally accompanied by soda and this dynamic duo has caused a variety of different health issues throughout the world, but mainly in developed countries. Fast food items, such as burgers and fries are loaded with: calories, fat, sodium and sugar. This has caused the rate of obesity and other diseases to skyrocket and its counterpart, soda, has also contributed to these health related illnesses. The government should not be able to tell you what you can and cannot eat but, the government should somewhat be able to implement a policy or a special tax on fast food and soda to reduce the consumption of it. An easy solution to this is to make meals in preparation for the week. By doing this, you will have a full week of healthy meals already made. Another argument is that fast food establishments contribute greatly to the amount of jobs on the market. This may be true, but these people could work at places that serve healthier food or other places. Though many people argue that they cannot buy healthy food because it is more expensive than fast food, a person could use coupons and buy the cheaper brands to save money. Lastly, for the people who live in rural areas around the United States, they could grow their own garden and can create healthy food choices, which are free. Therefore, the government should not get rid of all fast food restaurants, but limit the amount of restaurants in a city. Furthermore, the public needs to be educated on what they are consuming and informed of the health effect. Also the calories and ingredients need to be listed at fast food restaurants, so the public can see what they are actually eating. By doing this, the government is able to somewhat regulate what the public eats, but can not force them to simply stop eating what they want to
