The term “renaissance man” describes an individual who excels in numerous areas and can do many things extremely well. Today, this description lends itself to both men and women who are both scholars and athletes, creative and industrious, and generally highly successful in all they do. While many modern “renaissance individuals” go quietly about their lives being exceptional yet unnoticed, the first renaissance man, Leonardo Da Vinci, made quite a stir and caught the attention and imagination of the fifteenth century world. In his own time, Da Vinci was a renowned artist, scientist and inventor who was celebrated by thinkers, artists and kings alike. And although he lived and worked more than six-hundred years ago, Da Vinci’s artistic and scientific genius continue to inspire and amaze.
Following centuries of a powerful church, chivalrous knights, and harsh struggles, emerged a season of rebirth, rediscovery, and revival. Characterized by humanistic ideals, the Renaissance period marked a new style of art and literature and fresh appreciation of the body and nature. The pinnacle of the period occurred from 1500 to 1520, an era concentrated in Italy and known as the High Renaissance. Two prominent faces of the time were Leonardo da Vinci, painter of the acclaimed, “Mona Lisa,” and Michelangelo Buonarroti, sculptor of the jaw-dropping, “Pieta.” As the Renaissance spread North, Jan van Eyck, gifted artist of the “Arnolfini Wedding,” entered the public eye as well. Gradually, the study of mortal man replaced the study of the Almighty
The Tsar knew their grievances but did not act. On January 9th 1905 the workers and servants marched to the palace where the Tsar and his family lived to protest. They were met with guns, mercilessness and pure brutality. The people of Russia were simply disillusioned from all the casualties and injuries. This event marked Bloody Sunday, the day the Tsar and his people became even more distant. Workers set up work councils that were mostly influenced by revolutionary ideas. When Germany declared war on Russia it only made conditions worse for the people. Industries that supplied the war thrived and those that didn’t failed, people wanted the war to end. There was a national sentiment that the Tsar was unfit to rule Russia. He made attempts, like going to Petrograd to encourage his soldiers, to make his people think otherwise but one could say it only made things worse. Revolutions continued and the Tsar’s favour continued to fall.
He was always being watched. He was left handed and he wrote his notes backwards because it was to encode them or it was more comfortable we will never know (lassieur 62). There have been numbers and letters found in The Mona Lisa’s eyes. Leonardo’s inventions were unusual. In his notes there was found a version of a bike that resembles the bikes of today (lassieur 83). His drawing of a tank is considered garbage because the gears are drawn so the tank wouldn’t move. Most say he did this on purpose because he knew the destruction that the tank would bring. He also drew multiple mechanisms for flight and ways to breath under water.. We will never understand why Da Vinci did the things he did but, they are very

future leader of the Soviet Union as a “dress rehearsal” for the 1917 revolution. The most important difference is that the 1905 revolution failed to destroy the autocracy in Imperial Russia. A combination of reasons can explain why this revolution failed at overthrowing the Tsar Nikolas the Second. The revolutions participants were not revolutionaries that wanted to overthrow the Tsar, it was not started by revolutionary groups. The military and military context played an important role to the revolution’s failure, and the autocracy’s reforms gave compromise to the protestors who could be satisfied with the changes. These factors show why the 1905 revolution failed to destroy the autocracy.

Throughout the time of the Revolution there was never just one individual revolution. There was a series of revolutions that were set in Russia in 1917. Some were crushed in the making and had no result but, others ended up being made a very big deal. These sequences of revolutions ended up dismantling the Tsarist autocracy which also resulted in the creation of the “Russian SFSR”. As a result of these revolutions “the emperor was forced to resign from his post and the old regime was replaced by a provisional government during the first revolution.”2

His talent for painting was recognized by his family and neighbors when he was still a boy, and he started his painting career at a very young age. At 14, he was sent to Florence by his father to learn from Verrocchio, who owned a leading workshop at the time.
