INTRODUCTION
During the snack food packaging laboratory class, there are eight products being tested. The products include Fanta Strawberry Drink, Drinho Mango Juice, Julie’s Biscuits Cheese Sandwich, Hwa Tai Luxury Cream Vegetable Cracker (Cheese), Double Decker Mini Chicken Cracker, Ku Tam Tam Crab Flavoured Snack, Ligo California Golden Seedless Raisin and “Kacang Tumbuk”. In order to carry out unbiased comparative testing, the criteria are the same for each product groups. We group products based on their structures and intended use. For instance, Fanta Strawberry Drink and Drinho Mango Juice are both beverages intended for human consumption, thus it is easier for us to make comparison between these two products instead of making a comparison between a drink and a pack of biscuit.
There are several equipments being used to test the products such as vernier caliper, micrometer screw gauge, cylinder, electronic balance and thermometer. Vernier caliper has been used to measure the length, width and height of the products together with their packaging while micrometer screw gauge is used to measure the thickness of the packaging materials. Moreover, cylinder has been used to measure the volume of the drinks (Fanta Strawberry Drink and Drinho Mango Juice) while the electronic balance is used to measure the weight of all the eight products. Volume and weight are being measured to determine whether the actual volume and weight are the same as being indicated on the label. In addition, thermometer has been used to measure the temperature of the drinks.

Each student will then taste the PTC strip and record their tolerance or level of bitterness on a scoring card. Based on how the student perceives the level of bitterness of the PTC paper, the result will indicate whether the student is a non-taster or taster for PTC. Polls will be taken for the number of non-tasters and for PTC tasters students. After the poll is taken, students will be given sour patch soft candy (1 piece) to taste and poll will be taken for this portion.
