The Parallels between 9/11 and The Crucible
“We do not learn from our mistakes so our tendencies have remained the same throughout time” (Kruempelstaedter). The similarities between 9/11 and The Crucible is that they both were accused of crimes. In Salem nobody knew when they would be accused, and in New York no one knew when another attack would happen. There were stereotypes against the accused witches and the Muslims. People were abused if anyone knew about any information and would not speak. Violence and public humiliation came about after accusations were made. Friends and families were destroyed by both situations.
On September 11, 2001 New York came upon a terrorist attack. The terrorist hijacked four airplanes the morning of the attack. ...hey would probably not speak to them anymore so they do not get accused. In America when 9/11 happened whenever someone saw Muslims they would think they were a terrorist (Grover).
The difference between the two topics is that the aftermath of 9/11 is sudden change in circumstances. Little to no names is known. No death sentences and it were based on race of the Muslims. Ethnic profiling is still known today. Racism towards the Muslims in the United States was based off the event 9/11. They stereotyped Muslims in all parts of America including other countries as well.
The difference in the Salem Witch Trials is that the punishment was more sever, changing circumstances take place constantly, and based on grieve and vengeance. The Salem Witch Trials also happened in the past, coordinated, it was confined only to Salem, and it was based off of beliefs not events.
