Good Morning principal, staff and students, Thank you so much for having me today, it is an honor to speak to you about my World War 2 experience. It was September 1st 1939 when the war broke out after Germany attacked Poland, then by concluding on the 2nd of September 1945. This brutal war brought on by Germany’s leader Adolf Hitler made history and is still recognized and remembered today. Many marches and ceremonies are held these days in remembrance of the soldiers that died in the battle. I strongly encourage you to attend these marches and take pride in your country. Not only is it an opportunity for you to learn about the war but a chance to see what strength and sacrifice fellow soldiers took for the safely of our nation. Many young …show more content…

These days many ceremony and marches are for the community, it’s a great way to get involved and learn about past wars and experiences. During this brutal war it was hard to see mates that are fallen and that will never return, but the hardest part is returning home and seeing the families And friends suffer with the loss of their soldiers. Many boys around your age Applied to the army these boys considered it a duty to pay to the nation. The Australians carried with them a special gift while on foreign land, a gift, which has blossomed overtime called the Anzac and Australian spirit. This gift is the gift of values such as mate ship, comradeship, honor, humor, love, respect, and unconditional care for one another. These values have been upheld since the Anzac legend first came about. Our Australian soldiers sacrificed everything in order to help a nation in need. So boys do you understand why our Australian soldiers did it? If you asked would you go to war? Would you give up everything just to your country? Would you leave your family and your friends? I feel as though many of you wouldn’t, because times have changed and priorities are different. Although our soldiers powered through the war the loss and defeat got to them. Major-General Frey bird said “ In my opinion the limit of endurance has been reached by the troops under our command.. Our position here is hopeless”. This quite like many others admitted defeat for example a quote from Winston Churchill “I should like to pay the highest tribute for the most gallant fight put up against impossible odds”.
