Women in Combat Roles Should women risk their lives and join the army? A combat is a fight or a battle which takes place in war between two military forces. Around the world there are certain criteria for admission to the military, such as physical fitness and age, but the majority of the countries add gender to it. Some countries allow women to join the combat while other countries did not accept women in military. Recently, women participation in combat has become a controversial issue between people. Some people believe that women are weaker than men emotionally so, it is difficult for them to join the combat, while others claim that there must be equality between men and women so, women should be given the same opportunity. It is widely known that, men are physically stronger than women and it is proven medically that physical weakness is due to the hormonal differences. Testosterone is a hormone which is responsible for muscle strength and mass. The main function of it is to promote muscle development and increase muscle protein synthesis. Originally, men have elevated levels of testosterone than women; that is why women are less muscular than men. Consequently, women cannot join the combat because they are weak so, they cannot defend themselves. Furthermore, women pass through difficult stages in their lives which makes them weak such as pregnancy and menstrual period.
