For many being able to push ones self above all odds to achieve the most difficult of tasks would seem impossible, yet for William E. Peck this is his lifestyle. He is a “Go-Getter”, a man with a strong drive and determination to finish any task regardless of its difficulty. As a war veteran William is left crippled without an arm, and for that is left challenged in the business world, as he cannot preform as well as many others who are abled bodied. William’s first challenge is that of obtaining a job with Alden (Cappy) Ricks. William’s determination is first shown when we states that he has come for the job that he has already been given before even saying a paragraph. Peck it is already apparent that he represents the employee trying to climb the corporate ladder in order to achieve success. Yet many people in modern society don’t possess the determination to help climb the ladder, instead the fall breaks them and they find themselves running around in the infinite loop that is only destined to bring them so far. And once they have reached as far as the position will let them, they settle for that unable to climb higher and achieve greatness. Mr. Peck is the paragon of what a model employee looks like. The world revolves around tasks being taken and executed correctly so that the next task can be handled. By not doing so progress is impeded, and business collapses on itself. Although this may seem that the ideal person is a cold, heartless man who does what there told and thinks nothing else of it is not necessarily true. These people strive for a cause and to achieve their own goals so that they can become successful in their line of work. This model can even help my own carrier as it tells one self to take life by the reins and make your own path, instead of letting it be carved out for you by someone else. It follows the simple leader and follower strategy, where people who choose to be leaders will have success and make their own success while the followers will simply feed off that. For myself I must come to the realization that in order to become a “Go-Getter” I must take better charge of my life and actions, and focus on the matter that will help me drive my life upwards towards
