Climate change is a big issue around the world. There are many opinions on climate change and what makes it happen. A lot of people believe that greenhouse gases and carbon dioxide, that is produced by us, is making the climate change. Others believe that it is because of natural occurrences that have made climate change occur. I believe that climate change has occurred because of natural causes. So, I believe that the United States shouldn’t impose a carbon tax.
The carbon tax is a form of carbon pricing. The amount of money you pay on the tax is based on the amount of oil, coal, and natural gases you use which are things that have carbon in them and when they are burned, they release carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is then released into the atmosphere where many believe that it is why the climate is changing so drastically. Some countries have imposed this tax but many of these taxes that are imposed have failed economically. Look at the British of Columbia. They imposed a carbon tax in 2008 and it has helped the greenhouse gas emissions a little bit …show more content…

The tax would increase the price on cheap resources like coal, natural gases, and oil, which are resources that companies use to create energy for their factories. That means the company would either have to pay the tax on these resources and increase the price on their products or buy more renewable and eco friendly resources like hydropower, wind energy, and fossil fuels, which are very expensive to operate and buy. Even if you use renewable and eco friendly resources you would still have to raise the price on the products. So, when companies raise the price on their products more people aren't going to buy them which puts these companies and businesses out of business which lessons the which puts people out of jobs and lessons the work field, which will hurt the economy a lot.
