Many schools around the world now have school dress codes. It’s an opportunity for kids to get used to having to dress or look a certain way. But, should schools around the world really have school dress codes? The facts are that school dress codes violate kids Freedom Of Speech, Some School dress codes are against their religion, even sometimes they can affect kids grades, and can hurt students health. School dress codes violate students Freedom Of Speech and decide for the students what they have to look like and wear. Kids should not have to follow the rules of school dress codes because it’s a free country and kids can decide on what they want to wear. The students should be able to decide how long or short they want their hair and how they want to look like or what their parents want them to look like. Some schools dress codes can affect students religion and cultural appearance. There is no proof that school dress codes help with learning and actually work. Once a Navajo kindergartener was sent home because his hair didn’t match his schools dress code. This means that school dress codes can punish students for their religious and/or cultural appearance. Last year, a principle in England at a public school turned away around 200 girl students at the gates in front of the school. The principle turned away from all the girls because all of them were wearing non regulation length school skirts. Many parents and guardians believed the school was taking it too far. This school is not only taking it too far but this means those 200 students that are girls could not go back to that school until their parents or guardians by them another school skirt.
