In elementary school there was a dress code, but it was not enforced, not even by the principal. One day after recess, a student was walking up the stairs wearing sandals and she stubbed her toe. When she hit the step, her toenail broke off and started to bleed. Catching a peek at her toe, it seemed as if it could be broken as well. Due to the blood and the possibility of a broken toe, she had to be sent to the nurse’s office right away. As the rest of the class went back to the classroom, the other students could not stop thinking about the accident, and how any one of them could have a broken and bleeding toe right now. In addition, all of the students knew that the situation was avoidable, although they were too late to help the girl with the broken toenail in the nurse’s office. The situation became even more intense when the girl’s mom picked her up and drove her to the doctor’s office. Two of her toes were broken from the hit on the step, and half of her toenail was broken off. The school didn’t get in any trouble, however, most other schools in the area do have dress codes that are enforced. Varying Issues Corresponding to the School Dress Code Numerous cases have been presented and highlighted in the media based off of accounts from angered parents and students protesting the school dress code. Multiple reports are taken from females who experience the shorter end of the stick due to increased fashion interests and sexist mindsets of their school staff. Shame suits are humiliating outfits that those who break the rules must wear as a form of punishment, most of the time these consist of extremely unflattering clothes that have written phrases on them indicating that their appearance is due to their violation of the school rules. Punishments indicated a risk to the violators education caused by missed classes. Few in society do approve of the dress code as it controls female students’ modesty, banishes distraction, and preserves the professional atmosphere inside a school.
Dress codes are essential for all schools across America. Dress codes will set the tone for students to be safe because they will help reduce violence, increase student safety, and provide a positive learning environment. Dress codes have been an issue lately in some schools. Most kids are against it but I believe that there should be dress codes in all schools. This would be a good idea because it would reduce violence and bullying, eliminate the problem of wearing hats or jackets and they are less expensive.

School Dress Codes are Sexist One popular debatable topic right now is whether middle school and high school dress codes are sexist. A school dress code is a set of rules on saying what is appropriate to wear to school and the students and staff of the school are supposed to follow it. Many people are wondering if their school dress code is sexist, or biased attitudes based on gender. A lot of students and families say that school dress codes are unfair to girls and unreasonable, however others say that the dress codes are rational and normal.
There is something comforting about school children and teenagers dressed in pleats and plaid. Maybe it is a reminder of past times, or conjures up thoughts of order and safety. Whatever the reason, school uniforms are getting a lot of ?wear? these days, yet remain an unproven deterrent to school violence. No long-term, formal studies have been done with regards to the effectiveness of school uniforms, but many schools have kept their own informal statistics, such as the Long Beach School District. These statistics offered by Long Beach are often most cited as a proven deterrent to school violence, after adopting a mandatory uniform policy in 1994. According to Richard Van Der Laan, school crime has dropped over seventy-five percent, while attendance has reached an all-time high. One question we must ask ourselves is this, ?Is it the uniforms, or the induction of them that is solving the problem?? Maybe it is the school and parents showing some ?back-bone? which is affecting the students, not the clothing.
I think schools should not have a dress code because some kids want to come to school and feel comfortable in what they are wearing. So, come to school in something that will be in dress code.

When taking a look at today’s education system one might find it oddly peculiar that many schools around the nation are constantly stressing and encouraging diversity among the students, but at the same time, enforcing a heavily imposed dress code policy. This is only because of the fact that these same policies are the main things limiting these students to stand out amongst their peers and diversify. This is just one out of the many reasons why the school board should really just have away with the policy and ban it. Ever since the introduction of school dress codes in the year 1969, schools nationwide have been in constant debates with student boards on whether to implement a dress code or not. Once I heard news of the potential decision by the school board, I was taken aback as ever since my freshman, I grew to love this school and all the people involved in making it what it is today. However, the one thing I believe this school does not need is a student dress code. After all, these dress codes cause more harm to the students that whatever good you may think they cause. These codes take away our sense of identity in a time where we need it most as we are growing and learning, and becoming independent adults.
Keeping weapons out of schools is major problem. Without proper security measures in place, a student could very easily bring weapons into the school hidden beneath baggy clothing (OSSI Designs and Manufactures). In America, where a majority of schools do not have a uniform, roughly 160,000 children miss school every day due to fear of attack or intimidation by other students(Spencer).This might not be directly linked to what they are wearing, but having a uniform can be a safety net for many students who might otherwise suffer from bullying (Spencer).When students get ready in the morning it can tend to make those who choose not to pick their cloths at night late in the morning to school. Students takes less time to get ready in the morning when wearing a uniform it is beneficial to those who didn't pick out the regular school clothes prior to the night before ; when getting ready for school students can just grab khaki pants and a collared shirt and go without a hustle.
In school the first amendment still protects you, you still have the freedom of speech and can say whatever you would like even if the administrators don’t like it.Schools can have dress codes but as a student you can express yourself, no matter what you are expressing.Students can associate freely with other individuals, groups of individuals and organizations for purposes that do not infringe on the rights of others.Students with a disability have the right to ask for reasonable help ensuring equal access to classes and other facilities. We have the right to learn in a safe environment, we also have the access to mental wellness programs. Students have access to established procedures for respectfully presenting and addressing their concerns
Choosing what to wear for the day. This is what most students are thinking about when they wake up. Students need the latest fashion in order to fit in, but some clothing may not be acceptable to wear in school. School dress codes are denying students their right to dress how they want, but the dress code is important for the students and their learning. Students are beginning to stand up and want to be heard. Some students are taking action and want the dress code to become less strict but some schools are doing the opposite for safety issues and for the students healthy learning environment. Dress codes are important for a strong and healthy learning environment and is also reducing violence in many schools around the country.
We see stories Social media has more stories of girls being sent home because of dress code violations. Maybe the problem isn’t the students, but dress codes in general. Dress codes ultimately disrupt the pursuit of knowledge for the students, encourage gender bias, and can be dangerous. If we want the younger generations to succeed in the education system, we should utilize school uniforms. Uniforms in schools from elementary to high schools, will promote gender equality and facilitate student safety.
First impression is important when you are meeting someone for the first time, especially during a business meeting. Usually, the first impression will be determined from the dressing. Your dressing not only represents your image, but also the image of the company. Sometimes, first impression can also decide whether one can clinch the deal during a business meeting.
