Why Vaccinations Should Be Mandatory

I Believe that all vaccinations should not be mandatory in the US. I think people deserve the chance to decide what is best for them. Whether it be personal, religious, or health reasons I believe that parents should be able to educate themselves and choose what would be best for their child. While many people agree that vaccinations should be mandatory, there are many reasons as to why they aren't necessary anymore and risks they could present if taken.

For example, more deadly diseases have already almost fulling disappeared, less than 50 cases and 10 deaths from tetanus were reported between 1994 and 2011, effecting only a small percentage of the millions of people in the US. There are also fewer than 25 deaths yearly from mumps since 1968. …show more content…

Compounds like thimerosal found in some flu vaccines can be linked to autism. Aluminum found in certain vaccines can lead to neurological damage. Some vaccines for Hep A, Hep B, PCV, or HPV contain yeast proteins containing MSG which can cause a variety of problems like migraines, IBS, asthma, diabetes, Alzheimer's, ADD, seizures, or strokes

Further more, just because someone gets vaccinated doesn't mean that they can not get the illness they are trying to prevent, some people are simply more vulnerable to a certain illness, for example people who have gotten flu shots aren't automatically immune to the flu virus, the vaccination is only 60% effective.

Lastly, The government shouldn't be allowed to interfere with personal medical choices. Parents should be given the choice if they want to have their children vaccinated. Most parents who choose not to give their children certain vaccinations are educating themselves and doing what they think is right for their family.
