Smoking should be banned at the Central Texas College due to the harmful components it may bring to students and staff on campus. It can not only harm the smoker, but it can harm the ones around them. The effects of smoking can give CTC a negative environment. Smoking is unhealthy, toxic, and can be addictive for the smoker and the non-smoker.

First, smoking can harm your body in many different ways. It can lead to diseases, skin infections, decayed teeth, and etc. Your heart and blood vessels can be damged over time from the powerful toxins of smoke being inhealed into your body. Studies reveal that smoking has far more damaging effects on women's health than mens. For women, the effects of smoking can lessen their life by 7 years. While men's lives are shortened by only 2-4 years. The toxins of smoke …show more content…

When the toxins of nicotine are relased to your brain, it can relieve your stress and anxiety. If smoking wasn't banned at CTC, non-smokers would be more susceptible to try out smoking to enjoy its harmful benefits. Smoking would then be common for students on campus so they can relieve the stress of school and daily activities. At this point, everyone would be inhaling the toxins the smoke without even realizing it. Relieving stress with smoke is not a long effect for you. Once you start, it gets highly addictive and hard to stop.

Lastly, non-smokers would benefit most from the ban of smoking on CTC campus. It would no longer lead to the harmful effects of a passive smoker. If smoking was not to be banned at CTC, there should be secluded sections on campus for acitve smokers. This can give non-smokers the freedom to continue they're day free of pollution. Central Texas College doesn't need to be polluted with harmful toxins that its fellow students and staff are releasing into the air. This campus should be free of harmful pollutants.
