Children Shouldn’t Get Homework I’ve had homework pretty much every night since elementary school and all I can say about it is that I absolutely hate it. If you ask most kids, they’ll agree. As much as I dislike it, I have always been good about turning my homework in and on time. What exactly is fun about homework? And what is the point? Students are at school for 6 hours a day and teachers still give us homework. When teachers give us homework they are taking away more of our free time. There have been times when I have been working on homework from 3:00 in the afternoon to midnight. Instead of spending my afternoon on so much homework, I could have been outside or spending time with my family. Homework keeps students from spending time with their families, causes unneeded stress on their lives and causes health problems. …show more content…

Homework interferes with the lives of students because they are unable to do whatever they want. After school is the time for exercising or being out in the sun with your friends and family. Not stuck in your room for hours, trying to concentrate on the same math problem that you have been stuck on the whole time. Regular social interaction plays a critical role in brain development. When homework reduces their social time, children’s social development may suffer. “Children who have a large quantity of homework have less time to spend with their family and friends. Children who get plenty of opportunities to interact with friends and family can gain valuable social skills.” They also say that some families’ daily routines will be messed up from the amount of homework children are getting.
